Chantix worked for my wife and I. She has a bit more resolve than I do and she even wondered if I would be able to quit. Traded an expensive nicotine habit for a cheaper gum habit (don't worry @kansasdad, it is sugar free) even that is getting less of a habit with the passage of time. I have heard that there is an increased risk of "un-alive-ing" yourself when on Chantix so be aware. For me the risk was worth the reward.

I understand Chantix works for lots of people. I just fear, logically or not, substituting one chemical/habit for another. Smoking is undoubtedly the worst damn thing I’ve ever done, but I love it like nothing else.

Oh trust me I know how you feel about smoking, I was that guy. I used to tell people that smokes kept me from killing people. I LOVE the smell of a smoke in the morning and right after a meal and probably always will.

Chantix is a short term, get you over the hump kinda chemical. You are supposed to take it for 6 months but I was quit and off the drug in less than 2 months.

I quit drinking 30 years ago and almost bankrupted a major distiller. Nobody could have convinced me to quit drinking as the decision to quit comes from within. I had to get to the point where I decided that living the way I was living was not what I wanted out of life. Same went for smoking. I had to get to the point where I was ready to put down the smokes and do something else.

Getting tired of stair climbing and dragging my sled in the mud. Found a like new Nordictrack elliptical machine for sale a few miles away. Going to look at it tomorrow and pretty sure it's coming home with me. That should keep me busy this winter!

Just signed in to mtn tough. Starting the workouts in the morning.
Easily one of, if not the best workout programs I've ever used. They are actually functional and help with everything. Went to CO for my first elk hunt this year and was worried a bit about the altitude in relation to fitness level which I'd like to think I'm in pretty decent shape and I've been using mtn tough for almost a full year now. The altitude was an adjustment based on how quick we could move due to the elevation but physically we did whatever we wanted. We didn't want to go above 10,000 feet but we ended up sleeping around 10,000 and hunting up to almost 11,000. Mtn tough also helps you to try and figure out the mental side of fitness also which is easily more than half the battle.

Hit my 500th spin ride yesterday, since my 5th knee surgery. 9th out of 404 riders.
Several years ago before kids I had excess $ to blow on dumb shit like a gym membership to an elite (for Albuquerque) center. Those 04:30 spin classes were killer cardio sessions. I was the youngest by 30 years too. All those dinosaurs would happily crush 45min sessions every time.

Oh boy! Found out I'm still pretty squishy. Got through the first 15 minutes of the lower body workout program and had to stop. Supposed to keep the rpm at 65 and by that point my knee had lost all strength and was just along for the ride. No pain but it just didn't have anything there. Guess I need to go slower for now.
