I don't answer hypothetical nonsense. If SS runs out of money in 2035, will FERS still be around in 2047?

That's one of the key things people are missing here. Some of these agencies are already working 30% below full capacity or more. Another 5% or 10% is a tough blow to agencies already struggling to carry out their mission. And next is RIF procedures coming down the pipe. I feel like you it's time to do less with less.Right, 420 from an agency already under-staffed.
You're on the hunt but you didn't look deep enough. Elon is giving some folks a whiff of what appears to be a smoking gun for those who want to believe that there is massive governmental fiscal neglect and the root to all of their problems; keep em angry and let him do away with whatever he wants.I truly am trying to to be, but I really struggle when King Elon lies about sending $50 million to Gaza for condoms, or JD Vance says the judicial branch has no authority over the executive branch.
What else is Elon lying about? Look at his business practices in China. It’s concerning. I would walk before I’d buy support his business. Nothing in his “efficiency audit” is efficient. It’s shock and awe political hay IMO.
When I look at the big picture I see all the warning signs of us careening towards an autocratic government run by billionaires.

'There is no one left': Custer Gallatin National Forest workers reeling from job losses
The cuts weren’t isolated. Across the seven ranger districts that comprise the Custer Gallatin National Forest, Knight said she has heard of at least 32 terminations as of Monday.www.bozemandailychronicle.com
Glad you caught that before I could quote your original post.I don't answer hypothetical nonsense.

The group I work with directly got "lucky", we only lost 2. However, it's 2 people that I care about, and 2 less than we can afford to lose already being so short staffed.I was talking to a friend in NW MT and she said there were 50 terminations in their surrounding districts.
No-one voted for ElonHe made a mistake, admitted it was to Mozambique, and on national TV. What politician ever admits a mistake? Still a lot of money.
Yes, he was a vet who once out, worked his career at the Aberdeen Proving Ground doing some kind of weapons testing (never disclosed exactly what). They were downsizing and his offer was how they decided to reduce staff. Good for them (he and my mother in law).CSRS all but sure of it...wayyyyy different than FERS. For the record, anyone hired after 1987 is under FERS.
To get 65% of your salary under FERS you'd have to punch in 60 years of service. First people that would be eligible for that kind of pension under FERS would be 2047 and minimum age of 78.
Ready to go to mars dude? Good observation and being that musk is a great allocator of capital, most obviously the US government is the biggest hog to fund that missionYou're on the hunt but you didn't look deep enough. A billion condoms for Gaza for example (condoms cost the gov't $0.05). Do we even know how much transport would be necessary to ship 1 billion condoms to Gaza?
He was just in the oval office talking about Iron Mountain exposing "wasteful spending" storing documentation on federal employees retirement paperwork. The Iron Mountain storage facility is well known and in fact is used most information technology, software, healthcare and investment finance (your 401k), back ups. Anyone who knows about that place knows that it's primarily used for disaster recovery (like cyber attacks, hurricanes or terrorist attacks).
Look for the what's in it for Elon. He paid $290MM for the Trump campaign and has let the rest of MAGA know that he will fund their upcoming campaigns too (as long as they give him what he wants). The absolute best case scenario is that he's doing all of this because he needs to find $3 trillion dollars to fund his trip to Mars. What could be the worst case? Who has he been associating with over the past 2-3 years? Does he really have the best intentions for our country at heart?

The real reason why USAID was suspended https://apnews.com/article/usaid-foreign-aid-trump-dictators-freeze-de4b211931515315ef699c8fc7d37239Several million dollars of grain involved now reneged on..
with farmers from my state.
Let’s make his trip to mars a one way ticket and he’s the only one on the ship. You're on the hunt but you didn't look deep enough. He probably got an even better conversion rate than standard CSRS.Yes, he was a vet who once out, worked his career at the Aberdeen Proving Ground doing some kind of weapons testing (never disclosed exactly what). They were downsizing and his offer was how they decided to reduce staff. Good for them (he and my mother in law).
How valued do you think those folks are now? Are going to just collect a paycheck and wait for the next shoe to drop or are they motivated to complete their missions? Is this the kind of leadership they were hoping for?Probably should have thought about that before they sent the fork in the road.
Good question, actually a great question. How valued do you think those folks are now? Are going to just collect a paycheck and wait for the next shoe to drop or are they motivated to complete their missions? Is this the kind of leadership they were hoping for?

Isn't that a "hypothetical" question?Good question, actually a great question.
I don't see how they just don't shut down every trail, campground, etc. on FS land for the summer.Trails and rec sites are phucked. There is no arguing that on forests that lost that many employees.
I’ll say it again. Defund and decry. I’d be shocked if the push for transfer doesn’t come on the heels of this coming season.
