2024 Garden!

Well, it is already getting to the end of June. Been cold on the coast so fat, the garden is looking for some sun, but plants are up.

Look what 3 weeks of summer sun has done!
Nature is amazing.

He was pretty proud picking himself. Never saw a kid get so excited about a garden. On another note I made a big mistake of not giving my melons enough room they are devouring my cucumbers.

Idaho is cooking at over a week above 100 degrees. We picked our final batch of strawberries and made more jam. Heat had finally cooked the pea plants. Well freeze the peas for a garden surprise in January to have with elk steaks. Broccoli and cauliflower are producing and being ate as quickly as we pick them. Broad beans need picked tonight. Heat will kill them. Black and red raspberries will start producing this week.

My sister does wicking tubs. You can go to youtube and search for gardening with leon to learn more. Tomatoes are doing fantastic.

What date did you put those seeds in the ground?

Methinks I started corn too early this year. And those cold snaps certainly stressed things. 75% of my little crop stunted and has flowers on top already.

. Battery backup sump pump failed last night. Pumping our finished basement now. Just logged on to see if you were holding up down there.

Picked over 3lbs of cherry tomatoes this morning from my 4'x4' tomato bed that is just ridiculously overrun. I left another probably 1-2lbs out there for my kids to pick later because I got too hot lol.

Sheesh! No clue how much we got but there's no standing water in the ditches and none in my basement. A few branches down but nothing big or green. I got out of my truck and my glasses instantly fogged up. Going to be miserable today.

Pulled my garlic last week. Tomatoes and peppers are still doing sad. Onion and raspberries are doing great. Take the wins you can.

Tried something new, freezing them this year. Should be easier to use than just dried garlic

I dried some last year. Worked out really well, put it in a coffee grinder and made minced/powder out of some of it.

Mine didn't seem to store well so I figured I should try something different. And I pealed all the cloves so using them will be super easy now as well

Roasted tomato soup for dinner. With grilled cheese of course.

Maybe that was my problem, didn't get enough airflow around the garlic
