I could buy 1,230 cans of Hopzone with the extra money I'm expected to pay in taxes in 2023. I'm absolutely protesting this crap.
Most substantial argument yet!! Love it. At least someone sees that they’re hitting where it counts. I’d be fuming. That’s just unacceptable!!

When my dad went down w/ a heart attack, the ambulance response time took too long (+/-30 minutes to arrive). He didn't make it. No fault being assigned, just the reality.

Reckon that’s a philosophical decision one must make. Because the underpayers with their shitvaluations still do pay taxes. Though the shitvalue is completely legal so what to do?
 
Pulled up my Kootenai County ID (in CDA) prop taxes, actually had a slight decrease in value this year. Actual taxes are only up $134 from 2019 to 2022, don't have 2023 tax yet... But I think the people complaining about the school levies need a kick in the crotch. God forbid paying teachers so they don't leave to teach in Spokane Valley for 20%+ more pay.

2022 Tax year - $2,202
2019 Tax year - $2,068

Sad but true. If it wasn’t for Federal programs (Medicare/Medicaid) I would guess there wouldn’t be a hospital in Idaho outside Boise. That kind of response infrastructure is expensive.
 
I'm curious what everyone actually views as a fair amount to pay for property taxes.

I feel I am stealing with how cheap mine is. My wife and I owe a 1800 Sq ft home built in the late 1800s. It's on 80 acres of land and the property is all zoned agricultural. Valuation of fair market value is likely somewhere between 600k and 750k. We collect $6250 in leased tillable farmland of 35 acres. Our total taxes are just over $3500 and it seems to go up 50 to 100 bucks about every year. I'd say property taxes would be fair all thr way up to at least that 6k we get for the partial use of our land per year, maybe even more.

We are pretty rural, no garbage pick up. Ambulance at least 20 mins from coming.

For those of you upset with these price hikes, how does it compare?
 
Iam not going to appeal it. Talked to them and was told it likely would go up if i had them come out and apraise it. The county. I agree i could prob selm it for that or more in todays market. But what i dont understand is the banks appraisal at $294,000. Tells me a slippery slope we playing on.

Seems reasonable but everything depends on local. A direct comparison is millage rate for that type of zoned property. Even then it is complicated to compare. Some states value stuff differently. In some, you could have solid gold floors and it wouldn’t affect value.

I think everyone should just calm down until actual tax bills come out. Those estimates aren’t anywhere close to accurate. There will certainly be downward adjustments to the millage rate.

Unless, of course, you’re just looking for one more thing to be enraged about. If so, carry on…

Just like most things this thread turned political. I lean to the right. Didnt vote for gianforte. Democratic or republican who gives a shit as long as they do what is best for everyone.

I feel bad about posting this thread. Have a few people i know living in tents and campers. Crazy shit
