Sighting in a 7mm-08 for the first time

So here's the story. first day of doe season (Friday) I left out around 7 and set all day by a oak tree and didn't see much but squrriels. Then that evening I set and didn't see much but close to dark I heard what sounded like deer but didn't see nothing. So then this morning around 6 or 7 I take off loaded with my trusty 7mm that's barely sighted in and shoots 6 inchs right but anyways I find a good spot sat down and was waiting about 15 minutes a doe walks out of some brush and she's facing exactly infront of me and is moving her head back and forth looking at me and with my heart pumping harder then ever. I wait for her to turn broadside which she did. I then let the hammer smack the shell and out went a 120 gr hornady her back legs went flying(heart shot) and piled up 30 feet from where I shot. I thank all you guys for guidance and I can't wait for November buck season to come around.
Hell yeah man, great work.

Haha wrong person but ya mom should be able to
I wouldn't let that woman cook me a cold bologna sandwich!!

Only person I know that can burn an ice cream sandwich.

As for getting blood out of clothes, Dead Downwind (the scent control spray people) have a laundry detergent that works well.

Damn never heard of burning a ice cream sandwich. Mine can whip up a damn good sandwich

Congrats on the deer! Reminds me a lot of getting started in my teens, just a few rounds of ammo to my name and a desperation to get outdoors. In a perfect world we would have plenty of ammo and time to perfect our shooting and have all the mentorship be an excellent woodsman but reality is usually a lot messier than that. I'm happy it worked out well for you. Hopefully next season you can build on what you learned and have a few more rounds down range in practice. Hank Shaw, the author of buck buck moose has many free recipes on his website as well if the book seems a bit steep. Look up hunter angler gardener cook, his website will come up. Eat well!

Congrats Trapper J on some good vitals for the family. Go get another...don't forget about the inner loins inside that deer! Those always get pulled out and sauted same day with wine and onions as a snack for the hungry hunter.

Thank ya I plan on getting 2 more hopefully in the next few weeks. Going for maybe a buck and doe if I get a buck there's a few small competitions I'm gonna try for so I'll let yall know how this hunt goes lol

Probably local big buck contests. Lofty dreams for a guy with one deer under his belt.
Nope well yeah but not local it's a competition on the biggest buck taken whereing a specific hat brand and if you send the picture to them then the biggest buck when's and you get like a 350$ gift card. It's something me and a friend are gonna try then the other is some what similar but it's to win some bow stuff which I don't have a bow but if I win I might get one so nothing really local

Never entered any. No interest in them.
Got my answer I guess lol. Only reason I'm participating is because they deal with 2 things that I like but I think once one starts mixing hunting and competitions together you get some bad results.... hint hint cheaters poachers and other unwantedness

What’s the hat brand you’re gonna wear?
