Pack out pics

25+ years ago, national forest in WV

Bit more recent, but still before I started putting them in a pack. Killed a couple miles from the gate. Was dragging on a gated trail when this stranger showed up and wanted to haul the buck for me.

PA whitetails a few years back. My daughter and I put these two into cheap frameless daypacks. A couple miles of that was enough to sell me a MR.

I can't find many pack out pics. Most I have are of other people.

Helpers in MX.

There is a whole blacktail in the pack, along with camp. It weighed 108 or 114 pounds when we got back to the hangar, can't remember.

Love that this is still going. Lots of cool stories and memories. Throwing in another couple pics. Double of nice Rio’s from Kansas. Canadian black bear we poled out of a thick hole. Eastern Virginia buck I should’ve packed out rather than wheel him 2 miles. 78F37041-555C-4B44-8FDB-EAF68700327A.jpeg081E8D3F-F554-430A-ADC9-186A5A2AF555.jpegB5E5FDCF-4316-4FCB-9389-8E12F1444D8F.jpeg44AE6418-3C52-4312-8E46-208F570587AC.jpegDA76CE41-551A-4A70-8031-A6D2E5906ACB.jpeg

Brought the wife and kids along to help a friend retrieve a bull. Kids did well packing water and clothes.

My wife kicks ass as part time pack mule. Her helping out on an archery bull from a few years ago.

Boy quickly discovers if you shoot small bucks the packout is easy. There is a whitetail somewhere in that pack.

We had plenty of help on this buck so light loads for all. The boy likes getting bloody.

My brother with a Wyo bull from a few years ago.

And every once in awhile I do some actual work as well.

Relatively short haul and desire to save velvet made for some sloppy packing.

This is one of my favorites. Thanks to Ryan for taking this one.

The vast majority of pack out pics are not so glamorous, usually the middle of the night and a bag full of meat:

Of course the ones with fur and antlers are more interesting to look at. Like many things the sausage is made on the unglamorous side of the coin. A few real neat pics omitted due to too much landscape, I don't need Janis Punella showing up in my favorite basins.

There's a whole little buck in there somewhere...my last hunt with granddad.

That caribou, though. 😳

Couldn't figure out how to insert comments between pic so I'll just say here what pics are from.
First ever trip "out west", 2014 Wyoming unit 16 diy.
Daughter and her turkey.
Son and a couple of his turkeys from this year.
My free range Audoud, a very rough pack out btw.
A buddy and his elk. I have been a part of 5 elk recoveries and a moose but have yet to kill my own! But that's ok, I like it.
Do bluegill and morrell mushrooms count?Screenshot_20220828-082117.pngScreenshot_20220828-082108.pngScreenshot_20220828-081715.pngScreenshot_20220828-081303.pngScreenshot_20220828-081352.pngScreenshot_20220828-082001.pngScreenshot_20220828-081647.pngScreenshot_20220828-081632.pngScreenshot_20220828-081854.pngScreenshot_20220828-081333.png
