As a HUNTER (and Fisherman), who should you vote for this fall in the National election, in order to make sure HUNTING (and Fishing) is taken care of for your lifetime and your kid's generation?

Please keep your answers to HUNTING (and Fishing), and don't consider the Economy, Iraq, Trade, Family Values, and all that other nonsense that affects one's vote. ;) Who should the guy that owns a hunting rifle and a fishing pole vote for??? (And yes, many single-interest groups do this exercise and deliver report cards.) Any explanatio why would be enlightening. (And any guys who fish the Saltwater, please reply, as I think that is even more Federally impacted than other fishing.)

Ten Beers,

Did you flunk Summer School 3rd grade, AGAIN??? I thought you signed up for the Reading class, to see if you could improve your comprehension. Just how bad were your scores on the 3rd Grade Spring Idaho Reading Indicator???

The question was who SHOULD Hunters vote for, considering HUNTING issues. Nobody cares who you are gonna vote for, you can keep that a secret to your grave, or at least until you get to 4th grade.

How come you aren't smart enough to answer as a Hunter, or are you not really a hunter, and just some Fat-Assed ATV rider????

EG, I assume you are talking about the presidential election? If that's the case, there does not appear to be any candidate worth my vote. Maybe I'll write one in like I've heard Buzz say he does. What other choice do I have?

Well, since there are only 2 candidates who have a chance to win (Bush and whoever the Democrat nominee is going to be.....most likely Kerry) then Bush would be the best choice for Hunters to vote for.

If someone other than a Republican or Democrat had a chance to win, then maybe my answer would change. But since the choice is only really between two candidates, then I won't even spend any time to see who the other candidates are.

Bush is too liberal.......but Kerry is the most liberal Senator and that would be bad for everybody including hunters.

EG, well the obvious answer to that question is BUSH. And you make a good point. But, to vote against him means I would have to vote for Kerry, and I don't want to do that either. So how about I just don't vote for the president? They both are bad, things are going to be screwed up either way, don't you agree?

I don't think any of the three candidates feel that the Hunter vote is important to them. Also hunters don't tend to vote as a single block. Some vote for gun rights, others for the enviroment issues, others for cattle on public lands and maybe breaching dams, etc, etc.

So I don't know that any of the candidates deserves my vote just from my "hunter" point of view. I really don't know that President Bush cares about producing more quality mule deer bucks on the CMR for me and my daughter to chase. I don't think Kerry give two shits about anything I think is important. As for Nader he doesn't believe the public should own dangerous things like fire arms so most likely I wouldn't vote for him either.

So from just a hunter's point of view I would have to write in someone worthy of my vote.

I think Bush is the one who will protect hunters' rights. As far as local issues like habitat improvements, and the overall well-being of your states wildlife, you have to be informed and vote on the local and state level, and attend game commission meetings. No president is going to do anything for mule deer herds.

As a VETERAN \ HUNTER \ FISHERMAN, I can guarantee I'll vote. Who I vote for is my business.

I see no need to pontificate further.

FACT – In 2003, based on the votes and co-sponsorship of legislation, Senator Kerry voted the preferred position of The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) 100% of the time.

Based on this fact alone, hunters should vote for Bush. Too bad huntersdo not have a single issue think tank or even a single issue group, that I know of.

Well i don`t like our 2 choices, and the truth is i can`t vote for Bush or Kerry, But since we/I have to have a gun/guns to hunt. if it was just based on the hunting/guns factor, i would have to vote for Bush,[sure glad this is a "hypothetical" question]

WTF kind of a question is this Gunner? Are there really people that decide their vote for a presidential candidate on a SINGLE issue? If there are, I'm not one of them.

Fact: I hunt with a rifle.
Fact: The Bradys are pushing for more gun control.
Fact: Kerry has a 100% (21 for 21) rating with the Bradys, based on their own assessment of his voting record in the senate.

In his eight years in office, Clinton didn't even come close to getting the dams breached, therefore I think this is a non-issue.

Bush's record on conservation does not help his case.

Bush's record on motorized access to public lands is mixed.

I am not aware of the salt water fishing issues, other than I get sea-sick on anything but a surf-board.

Maybe you should post John Kerry's record as far as initiating programs that would either benefit or hinder hunters & fishermen.

Just curious...what "rights" do hunters actually have?
Hunters have the right to hunt with a firearm. If Kerry becomes president you can bet that your right to hunt with a semi-auto rifle or shotgun would be under attack.

Just exactly where do hunters have the "right" to hunt with a firearm? We have archery only seasons here. You hunt with a firearm, you get a ticket.....

ok...this "rights" thing got me to thinking, and I don't want to sound like a PETA member or something, but do animals such as deer and elk have a right to a place to live? Now just hypothetically, who would best protect those rights? (if animals do in fact have rights) Seems that maybe the best man for the job (strictly from a hunter's point of view) would be the guy who would look after the animals's rights, not just the hunter's rights.
