Why would it matter to him?He hunts a private ranch every year in Wyoming.
I wonder when he last hunted a general unit on accessible public land in Wyoming? Him and his Dad have done more to ruin the deer hunting in Wyoming with their big mouths and magazine than any Wyoming winter.

Just make BuzzH quit hunting and there would be plenty of animals around, LOL! Seriously though, I would like to see what units they put in for and hunt compared to what they list in their magazine. They have lost all four good guys they have had working for them in just the last three years, which tells me more than I want to know about them!!!

they posted a pic mocking CH on their Facebook page earlier today..didn't get a favorable reaction since been taken down....I did see something last night on the dvd DIY or die...Guy Eastman actually got excited on one of the hunts after he shot an elk!!! I was impressed

More draw units usually create more problems than they fix, so I can't agree with Guy on that one.
I think the whole Eastman crew are a bunch of frauds. Like people mentioned above, they are mostly to blame for regions G and H getting over hunted and they kill their bucks on a private ranch to boot.

I really think he has a good idea if wdgf would implement it,,,if you read the full article it really makes sense and would help the deer and hunter congestion in the popular units getting hammered .nobody likes going to controlled hunts but this would really help the deer in bad winterkill years especially.

Dont expect Guy to come up with anything other than going to limited permits.
Dont think about decreasing easy access or maybe shutting units down entirely for a year or two, or getting rid of allowing kids to shoot does, or decreasing/eliminate doe tags, or shoot more elk, or asking hunters to lay off the trigger on mule deer or maybe hunt whitetail for a couple years or maybe only take older bucks or...
The list goes on and on for the potential things that each individual hunter could do to help mule deer out in Wyoming.
Lots of options before we have to go to statewide limited quota.

I'm by no means an expert, but is his theory based on 1 winter?
Seems you would have to base the practice of quota on several years research and what the quota system has done with the deer population in surrounding states.

Zach, yes all of this is based on one REALLY bad winter. So yes, but the G&F did nothing to offset that really bad winter. Most of the regions involved in the "Extreme winter kill" are general tags. Not saying they should go to limited quota, just saying the deer got decimated by the winter and then had to deal with the full brunt of the orange army (guilty as charged).
With all of that said, it's obvious something needs to be done to help bring back up the deer numbers, and giving out MORE tags to limited quota areas (in western wyoming) that didn't get hit QUITE as hard is not the way about it. That's where the money greediness comes in.
I don't know what the answer is although the more I hear about preference points the more I'm against it.

Selling doe tags after a bad winter is the worst thing to do simple as that.I have witnessed in my own state what happens when hunters start shooting of to many does and let me say they dont come back nearly as fast as they go.

Give a bunch of hillbillies cheap or free doe tags and they will shoot all they can mostly the ones that have midwestern license plates.

174,I've seen the same in my own state.They implemented the herd reduction program with crazy amounts of doe tags.It should have been renamed herd destruction program.Pa use to hold high numbers of deer,but now the state lands are shot out.It has made for bigger bucks,but only to those who own or lease land and plant it for the deer
I don't know how to fix Wy's problems but there seems a need for something to be done.I'm thinking about using my points this year on the Natrone or rattlesnake unit.Kind of worried I've been banking points for whats average size deer in other states at best.I guess theres only one way to find out
