Drought for the west

Going to take more than one above average winter to make a difference here.
3 days of strong winds again.
Had dust blowing over the melt puddles yesterday. Snow tonight thru the weekend, they say.
Maybe without the winds.
Once again the Sierra's are doing what they do,take the brunt of the moisture.

Mountains next to house are finally covered but nothing down here in town. I know snowpack must be behind for year, this entire next week forecast lows at or below zero. Tons of wind but not much for mositure in 10 day, hope we get some actual snow soon. Seems like this side of divide is dryer so far this fall/winter.

Colorado River officials in the Lower Basin states of Nevada, Arizona and California made perhaps the most significant announcement. Working with the Bureau of Reclamation, they formally announced what they’re calling the “500+ Plan,” a proposal aimed at keeping an additional 500,000 acre-feet of water each year in Lake Mead starting in 2022.

I know Stegner as well.

“We have an unknown distance yet to run, an unknown river to explore. What falls there are, we know not; what rocks beset the channel, we know not; what walls ride over the river, we know not. Ah, well! we may conjecture many things.”
