My vote too. Definitely not any of the North American oriole species.

It actually had pretty good coloring on his head I just couldn't get it to show in any pics. Little booger wouldn't sit still long enough for me to change phone camera settings.

My first thought was some sort of oreole species when I saw it, but it was definitely a western tanager.

When in the field, I used the Merlin app on my phone.
It can ID calls or songs of birds in North America.
I often use Merlin to decide whether I should sit and wait because a species I want to photograph is calling.
