My mom has 52 chickens and a couple dozen quail I haven't bought a egg in years. But I've built most of her pens and coops, cared for them, and shoveled a literal ton of chicken $#!+. I bet most people who complain about the price of eggs have no concept of what that's like.

We have 15 laying hens. My wife spends 20 minutes a day taking care of them…. I figure we will break even on our investment in 80 years….

Kroger just gave me a coupon for a free dozen. A couple weeks ago they had 18packs for 3.99. I bought 3 and need to start eating a few.

Of course, I built a large four nest box chicken coop, fully enclosed with a complete 14x14 framed chicken wired outdoor area they could route to from that hinders wildlife from access... Wife and daughter LOVED the cute chickens. Who cleaned the chit box area? Yep.

No fan what-so-ever. I should have let the black bear break in - excitement got the best of me to watch a black bear chit himself as I blasted 9 rounds of .40 in the ground around him at 20 yards. Damn! Though fun, regardless.
