New FWP Director

"Governor Gianforte told me that one of the main reasons he wanted me here is to build on my credibility with the ag community
to find new and better ways for people to reach currently off-limits public lands and develop new incentives to help open the gates of more private holdings. What’s more, with 70 percent of wildlife habitat east of the Divide on private land, FWP needs even stronger partnerships with farmers, ranchers, and other property owners to meet
its stewardship responsibilities."

I dont disagree with the message - but i based on history - gov gregs ideas of "new and better ways" will be drastically different than mine and the average Montanans. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

I was really impressed by Christy Clark at her confirmation hearing today. She acknowledged the kind of thing UPOM never could: that landowners need public hunters too and should be working to create access for the benefit of their operations. She has solid bonafides and it was fun to watch everyone from across the gamut testify in support of her. I got the idea she deserves it, and she was humble to boot.

She struck me as the kind of Montana rancher and public servant that we just don’t see enough of these days.
