They often get more red on their head, but not always. You can see a little bit in your third pic

Spotted him coming off a job in Tarkio, MT.Where did you see this bird?
It actually had pretty good coloring on his head I just couldn't get it to show in any pics. Little booger wouldn't sit still long enough for me to change phone camera settings.Western Tanager

My first thought was some sort of oreole species when I saw it, but it was definitely a western tanager.Oreole.
