App fee increase bill

could be right, could be wrong. I would think some folks that don't have enough points for the preference draw but still apply just in case they get lucky in the random draw, might think twice. Especially if they apply for multiple species
It mostly depends how well everyone can hide the increase from their wives.

I do think it will effect number of applications mainly for purpose of random. I always tell people who are not trying to draw yet for various reasons just apply for a homerun unit your will never draw with points. The lottery odds with a $15 vs $75ea app may not be worth it to them to apply. See if it passes, but it does include resident increases so there will be push back. I also think that G&F budget /spending may need to be getting looked at.

75 bucks won't change a thing.
I think you will see more people only buying points and only applying when they feel they have enough points to draw.
I apply myself and a couple other family members every year for pronghorn even though we don't have enough points to draw in the high point group. At $75 each for < 1% chance, I'm out until I have enough points to draw the unit I want. I may be the only one, but I bet there are others.

I also think you will see some people trying to use their points on lesser units so they can get out of the game all together. It will probably increase point creep on the low to mid-tier units.

Apply for everything at once then modify.
Buzz, are you saying that it would be $75 total if a guy applied for multiple licenses at once?
I understand it as a max of 75 per tag application but the wording makes me wonder now.

“…applications for all personal applications made at the same time.“

Is it the “at the same time” wording that makes you think that? Right now it’s a per license application fee. So for Deer, elk, and antelope I pay the fee for each species. You suggesting that if I applied for all at once I’d only pay one app fee?

no that's just your cheapest qualifying license and app fees
I guess technically you’re right.

A better way to put it is it’s roughly $150 to apply and build points in Colorado.

My point was that it’s not a true equivalency, since you still are paying up to a few hundred $$ in Wyoming for preference points later in the summer, depending on the species.

Most people will still pay it.

yeah the PPs certainly change the equation a little.

but at least from the pure perspective of "cost to enter" it's 150.

at least in wyoming your cost to get through the door, whatever that ends up being, comes with random chances. luckily colorado will soon have more of that too.

i'll certainly still pay it. hunting in wyoming is too much fun.

Yep, me too. Like I said, you gotta pay to play. But damn, it gets more painful every year.
