U.S. producers buying cheap Canadian cattle

Ithaca,
Many ranchers on the U.S. side also lost millions of dollars on retained ownership contracts with live cattle trapped north of the border.

Really has nothing to do with whether a rancher is grazing public land or not. In addition many ranchers want the border opened because Canada was the largest market for our annual calf crop. They would go north of the border to feedlots then come back as boxed beef. So if cattlemen are buying up cattle they must know the border is reopening.

I find it interesting that you would be opposed to a business opportunity. It was not U.S. a producer that had the BSE case on there place, it was a Canadian, unfortunate for them but that is the way it goes. Could just as easily been down here.

Many ranchers who do not graze public land also oppose the border reopening.
