Did one of the fine looking ladies find the shed too?

It was wedged in the crotch of a tree that I leaned against. Didn't know it was there until it literally poked me in the ribs, lol.

While the girls didn't find it, they quickly laid claim to their first moose antler chew toy.

Made a quick run through a walk-in area this afternoon.

Elk hunting in the breaks opening weekend was kinda crappy… 24 miles on the boots in 3 days.. shredded a tire and headed home Monday afternoon. Decided to take the pup on a walk after spending half my annual hunting budget on new tires… totally worth it.. I’m thinking that walking behind my dog, watching her work and flushing her point is way more fruitful then all those miles in the breaks looking for elk with half the nation!

There is a “Let’s See Them” in most of the game specific forums, how about grouse? My favorite fall collected meal is either elk tenderloins or mountain grouse.

Congratulations looks great where I live here in New York 30 years ago was loaded with grouse not anymore. It’s one reason why I’m thinking of moving up to your area. I’d like my son to experience what I did when I was growing up as a young man again congratulations

Opening day of Sage Grouse here in NW CO and I’m officially on the board for the 2024 hunting season. I should have killed a pair today, I had my opportunities, but I’ll gladly take the one I managed to scratch out. Especially without a dog.View attachment 340284

Finally got around to eating this Sage grouse and the Sharptails from ND. Smoking good! Cooked em rare like a whitetail ham steak. People who says these things are inedible must be brutally overcooking them.
