I would make the statement that if you don’t pay taxes the land quickly becomes someone else’s that will pay rent / taxes. We “own” nothing@Treeshark - what role does a state game agency have in a place like iowa that is predominately private land? 98% private land.
Should that be federalized or privatized?
That silly statement has oft been repeated by the "Freemen" and others who have used it as an excuse not to sign a mortgage deal or purchase property or a home, and more broadly to carp about and/or refuse to pay taxes and about the evil gubment at each level ... local, county, state, and federal. It is an ideology based on an unrealistic notion about private property ownership and rights, as well as the very reason taxes are necessary at each level.I would make the statement that if you don’t pay taxes the land quickly becomes someone else’s that will pay rent / taxes. We “own” nothing
It won’t bring the money Tyson Paul did but would be more entertaining. Could donate it all to the winners choice of a conservation groupBoxing match - HT edition?
It'd be tough to pay out $60 mil from here.It won’t bring the money Tyson Paul did but would be more entertaining. Could donate it all to the winners choice of a conservation group
I just want to hear a consistent, logical, argument for it.It'd be tough to pay out $60 mil from here.
I'll throw some $ in!
Man, I'm just trying to make jokes!I just want to hear a consistent, logical, argument for it.
Something a bit beyond theres "federal land so i deserve game tags" would be a little more interesting convo.
Hard to define. Consumers pay less for products and taxpayers pay for subsidies.Man, I'm just trying to make jokes!
I'll bite. Who pays for and maintains federal lands?
Soooo, who owns the land?Hard to define. Consumers pay less for products and taxpayers pay for subsidies.
A comparable example - what right does iowa have to regulate NR deer hunting with nearly 98% of the state being private land?
Every us citizen.Soooo, who owns the land?
Animals go with it right? You can't go on someone else's land and shoot their critters.
I don't really want to get this started
I was thinking more of a Calcutta type of event where you bid on the guy you’d like to punch in the face…. For wildlifeIt'd be tough to pay out $60 mil from here.
