Stump the Chump!

My brother went to Cal Poly SLO in the early 70's. He ended up working in events at the student union. He lives in Atascadero today.
He got to meet a lot of folks playing there. The craziest thing he says he saw was when Al Yankovich was a student and playing around town all the time with an accordion.

I was still in high school and my friends and I would drive down there to run Broad St. We somehow thought those college gals would find us attractive.
We were just clueless kids.

The last show I went to down that way was Kenny Loggins at the fairgrounds in Paso Robles.
I wore Loggins and Messina out...

Saw Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers open for Dylan at the Mid State Fair.
Lived for 5 years on the Templeton border in Atascadero.

You are all reminding me of that nagging feeling I've always had that I was born a little too late, musically. (My bones disagree, physically)
My wild years were in the 70's. My love of earlier music comes from stealing my brother's substantial vinyl collection. I also got a huge dose of Patsy, Willie, Eddie Arnold, Jim Reeves, etc from my dad's love of that period.

Then there was my parents embarrassing habit of clearing the dance floor with gymnastic sock-hop and jitterbug when the beat was good.
I gotta Sam Elliot story too.
We both did a double take and he stroked his bigger mustache. He also had his gorgeous wife on his arm.

Name Sam's wife.
Ms. Ross.

I was an impressionable age when Butch and Sundance hit the screens. ;)

That was in Santa Fe 8 years ago. She's still just as beautiful.

I was a redneck hippie (my black friends called me that),and never quite fit in Pasadena. Bob Wills came from my room.
SLO town was my speed. SLO county.

Mom & dad would send me off to stay with my aunt & uncle for a bit in summer. Apple Valley.
Next door to Roy Rodgers & Dale Evens place....

Happy trails to you...
