Well, I've been out searching a couple public land areas that i know usually have a few elk the past couple days that would be easy access for the guy..........no dice. Saw nearly 100 head there last week but they have all moved to the lower private ground. Talked to the landowners, they said they sympathize with the situation but won't allow it. O-well, moving on to another spot. We got permission for a place i've never been before on Sunday. If we strike out there, i'll be making a few more phone calls for monday and tuesday.

Oh, and i appreciate all the nice comments from guys but I think most would do the same if they were in my shoes.....

Matt, saw a large herd on the way to work today on the north side of the interstate about 1/2 mile from the top of Bozeman pass, heading east. Saw a decent bull, not sure how big. It's probably private land, wouldn't know.

Well, no elk on the ground. Saw a few cows yesterday and one bull a long ways off. We tried to head up and find that one bull for a closer look and he pulled the ol dissappearing act on us.

Went back to look today, unfortunately Dan got really sick and we had to bail on the hunt. Saw 3 bulls this morning too and he was feeling so bad he couldn't even go a couple hundred yards to get a shot at the bulls. Feel terrible for him. We are back so he can dose up on some medication and try to get some rest.

Just before dark closed on us last night, he did make a nice shot on a dandy whitetail buck though! Wasn't really part of the plan but when we saw the buck, and he said he would definately hang his tag on that buck, well the green light was on! He made a perfect one shot kill at 613 yards! I know i'd be happy with a 145+ whitetail, and i know he is. Its a cool buck with some great character.

Just need to find an elk now that will present us with a similiar opportunity.
