Offensive Mountain Name Changes

Never really pay much attention to mountain names on maps. I name my mountains by where what I shoot falls on them. I would share but y’all would be offended, or maybe not, but certainly someone’s mother would be offended.
Think I've retrieved from a mountain and a canyon of the same name.

I'm offended that you're offended. This thread is offensive. Greenhorns choice of beer is offensive. Too much soy in people's diet?

Personally, I don't really care if they change the names of things. I'm sure at some point folks will be looking to change the names of lakes and rivers too. The thing I find hilarious is the "woke" culture that thinks this is making progress on some of our deep, underlying issues. In actuality, it isn't doing a darn thing and is just some kind of instant gratification, "we gottta do something", knee jerk response

If they're going to change it would be cool to go to a former native name. Sorta like Denali and mt McKinley. That way at least there would be some historical significance.

Should we get rid of names like "Mexican" Grey Wolf?
What are we supposed to call Indians? With a Dot or a Feather?
Native Americans,or are cannibals natives?
Things that make you go...HMMM? OR who gives a rats ass!
Stop changing our history... 💥

I cannot confirm the veracity of this account.
Wow - the power of the internet in the hands of @Oak is a strong weapon. Thanks! Love the poetic justice.

I figured it was something along those lines. Several peaks in the area have a somewhat sordid story.

There is a town in Idaho named Dickshooter.

As a male, I take offense to that....What should that name be changed to?

Every time I drive through there I wonder what happened. I have even asked folks in Clark a couple times and no one has known the story. Should probably ask at the Hahn’s peak museum someday.
This is all I could find. Implies that might be other stories but not sure. There used to be some average elk populations around there but that was 45 years ago.

Seward's Folly turned out to be a good deal for the USA, especially for those that like to hunt and fish.

Seward also had the crazy notion of purchasing Greenland and Iceland too.

I think the road from Yellowstone to Sunlight Basin in Wyoming is Dead Indian Hill. On the chopping block but then again I might be mistaken.

More history we need to sweep under the rug.
