Music instruments

I am not musical in the slightest. Every instrument I touch sounds the same....like something dying.

As mentioned, I tried the piano and guitar--same result, bad at both

Idfirelass, and mtnhunter always enjoyed banjo music --especially the dueling ones. Roy Clark and Buck Owens

Played the violin in sixth grade, sax in 7th. I could call ducks, geese and elk right into the backyard but those musical instruments sounded so bad.
One of my college roommates was the 168 pound PAC 8 champion. Built like a Greek God, played the piano beautifully. We’re at a party, there is a piano, in seven minutes there would be a girl on either side of him. Never could figure it out....

:love:

no music for me, but husband plays the harmonica.

I started out in elementary school band playing baritone horn. I started playing snare drum in a fife and drum group and moved to percussion in school band. In high school I started playing the whole drum set in competition jazz band. In my senior year I ended up with a scholarship to Colegate university to play drums in their jazz band. I also played triple drums in marching band. In my adult life I played drums in a few heavy metal bands. I also learned guitar and bass guitar and screaming (I mean singing) in a few bands. I was about to get signed to a record label and we didn't end up doing it at the last second due to contract crap our lawyer told us not to settle with. Since my injuries in Iraq I can't play drums anymore because my shoulder dislocates. I can't play much heavy metal guitar solos dude to nerve damage and decreased motor skills in my fingers. I still play bass and some rhythm guitar, but not band worthy.
Guitar Hero does not qualify Cush

Anyone else here old enough to remember the movie Deliverance ? That was an interesting dueling banjo's scene

cwitherrow---when I saw your post it made me think about a movie with Richard Dreyfus, who in the movie touched a few lives as a music director.

maybe Sawtooth is referring to the movie Deliverance --(-;

Dirtclod--that would also work for me (-;

Deliverance was filmed in northern Ga where my wife's family was from. The cliff climbing scene was done a Talluhla Gorge state park which is a cool destination. The river scenes were filmed on the Chatooga River. I've never made the time to fish it but it's on my list. It is a protected waterway so the river looks much the same as when it was filmed.

I've played guitar since I was 7'ish, my mother always liked the portions of the Andy Griffith show where he'd sit on the porch and play for Aunt Bee - she signed me up for lessons so I could play for her. Had a great instructor who is in the Oklahoma Blues HoF now, always had interesting tales about his travels. Played in a couple local bands in high school, college and afterwards I mainly just play to keep the rust off or if some friends want to noodle around and jam a little. Have a 1964 Gibson LG1 acoustic, a white Gibson SG with ebony fretboard that I wanted ever since I saw some footage of Rosetta Tharpe play one, and a Telecaster I mainly play through a handwired Vox AC30HW2X.

I played drums in middle school and freshman year in HS. Wasn't able to afford any lessons outside of school so those that could progressed past me and being relegated to the bass drum I was done. To fulfill my musical interests I started dj'ing parties/weddings in college and did that for about 5 years (age check-this was still when we beat-mixed with vinyl). I really loved doing that but life, career and then the first kid sealed that for me.......

That is a beautiful SG

After 39 years of having never taking a music class and being a totally blank slate, I started taking piano lessons about ten months ago. We already had a decent piano because it was important to my wife that out daughter learn. So one day out of the blue last spring during a local concert, I got the itch to learn. I must say it’s been quite satisfying even if it is slow and steady going. Really makes me appreciate now watching a true professional during a concert and I like how it opened up a new part of my brain.

I played the piano when was I was younger for about 7 years and now can’t remember a thing about it🤔. I play the guitar, but I’m no master.

Ha, we could have just cut out the middle man and traded.
Haha that would have made it easier, unfortunately I'm left handed making finding a guitar I'm after a bane, my seagull acoustic and my ltd electric were both the Only guitars of there kind in lefty available in the states or at least that i could find scouring the webs at the time I bought them. Luckily I am right eyed dominant tho so I haven't had to experience that pain with my bow and rifles.

Played trumpet in middle school and high school. Lot of happy memories doing Jazz band for our high school basketball team.

Switched to acoustic guitar in college because it seemed mandatory to get a girlfriend. Still have a couple (Guitars), including a darling Breedlove I still enjoy occasionally, although my callouses are gone and I can barely remember how to do Incubus and John Mayer tunes now.

Now that I have an 18 month old, most of my musical talent is devoted to this xylophone. I’ve mastered Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and aspire to the Jurassic Park theme.

One of the better natural piano player was JoAnn Cassidy on Lawrence Welk show. I love that style of playing.
I have my grandfathers violin who was one armed. He'd pin the bow to his one arm and saw away. Only heard him play it once. He lost his arm to gangrene at the elbow when he was younger.
