MT proposed season changes

Greenhorn, isn't a landowner tag only good for the landowner's own land? I think this is the case already.

No, That's what has quit a few in a dander. They can hunt anywhere in the unit they draw. Some are arguing to make it so that they can only hunt their land. They can also transfer that tag to any family member or employee of the ranch or operation...

If a rule is made that states 10% of the tags are reserved for NR then the only way to statistically accomplish it is to take 10% of the tags issued for each area and have only NRs competing for the 10%tags reserved for NRs. What is Caesar's is Caesar's or what is NR is NR or what is landowner's is landowner's...

Without starting another big debate, as I believe it is stated, non residents are allowed no more than 10% of the tags, so there is nothing that guarantees they will get 10%, just a limit of 10%.

Landowners should only be allowed to hunt their own land on a landowner tag... :D

I say we get the legislators moving on this...

I agree, but I bet you can already guess what their reasoning will be for not changing it.

They will make the argument that the animals move around and come onto their land at different times of the year when hunting season is not open. The old "I feed them in the winter (or summer or whatever) but they aren't on my land in hunting season" will be used as an excuse pretty quick.

Holy crap, i hope i don't have to endure another post like this:):)
Randy 11.......Burns was concerned about loosing his private ground to NR's??............what a shame. Would really be shitty for him to have to hunt with the rest of us:) Geezuz. One of the problems with hunting anymore is that is turning into a money game.

This meeting in bozeman was a nail puller, I made it for an hour after Greenhorn and Lawnboy abandon ship.......then the homo in the front just couldn't let the whole wolf thing go and it was either go out and drink some beers in the lobby or punch him in the face. I agree with GH, too many stupid people go to those meetings to accomplish much. They should have a retard scan at the front door so people like him get the boot.

Letting kids go hunt early, WTF? Gimmie a break, as if a 5 week general rifle season isn't enough of a slaughter on deer here.

The

One of the commissioners loves these tag give aways. Willie Doll out of region 6 wants to keep these. He and his landowner buds shoot big bulls every year. I agree this is one we all need to fix.

Belly Deep-I believe that is what BuzzH was so hot about. 10% for NR doesn't really mean 10%.

Mule Deer hunting should close the first weekend in November, state-wide. :)

So Greenhorn, your looking for a week long mule deer season, or 2 week? Do you think that will make it a free-for-all mad house if that happened. How about quality of hunt? You've got several options:

1). Limited entry per district.
2). Limited season.
3). Weapon restriction.
4). Combo of restricted access, coupled with shorter season, or limited entry, though not as much as #1.

Please, anybody that's going to bring it up, spare me the point restriction debate.

Limited entry per district, choose your weapon and choose your district, one week season, 4 seasons, including one muzzleloader season(no optics or sabots). 10day archery season, no compounds allowed. haha. I got kids now, I can't get out that much anyway these days..

What would Big Shooter do?

Keep running your soup coolers hammer-head and you might find out what he would do. You're a bit mouthy for a litte fella....but that will probably catch up with you one of these days.

What would be wrong with opening antelope 2 weeks earlier, deer season 2 weeks earlier.....and closing deer season 2 weeks earlier.......this way it would miss the heart of the rut? This, along with some micro-managing and the quality might improve in a year or two. Just a thought.

You would still hit the "heart of the rut".
