2 of my co workers that are probationary employees just got the call to come home from a detail. Doubt they are gonna be at work on Tuesday. Both are some of the hardest working employees on our district.

It seems someone with logic remains in the Admin. Might be too little too late. What I worry about are those without a plan B and who can't find a job within a few months and decide to take out their anger in other ways. It's a dark thought, but all too possible.

I am inclined to agree. This won’t make any sort of meaningful dent in government spending, but it certainly is political red meat as has been demonstrated by some of the responses here. HT is probably best classified as center-left as far as I can tell, so I’m sure this plays much better amongst the R base.

If DOGE makes legitimate cuts to more politically risky areas (DOD especially), I will have to reassess my opinion on this. Until then, it seems to be mean-spirited and political.

The reality is most folks are right near the middle. And when it comes to conservation--clearly the Dems have been better for many years. That doesn't mean we should consider it a partisan issue--media--those some choose to believe at least--sure want to make it that way though. I think we fail if we treat it as only partisan, and that goes for who we support as well as what we are willing to tolerate.

Long been a believer we need to support the best for conservation no matter what color party they are from. Some of the better more effective ones have been republicans in my experience. Also sadly, at least in my state--the party has become so extreme those reasonable and effective republicans get tossed out because they won't line up behind wild and false conspiracies and beliefs.

Yep. That's all I was getting at everyone should have a plan b. And if a certain job doesn't afford you that luxury than that job might not be the right fit for you at that time. Unless your ok with putting yourself in that position. There's a lot of other jobs out there I wanted. But when considering the price of school and what that job payed it just didn't make sense to me at the time. Having a (small) safety net or plan B for me and my family is what matters to me. Everyone's situation is different but just because you want or love a certain job doesn't make it a great career choice for a lot of reasons. I think it took a lot of balls for you to do what your doing by taking the job you did, with a family and all btw.

Thanks man I appreciate that. I finally got an opportunity and I jumped at it because I told myself I was gonna have a hard time telling my kids to chase their dreams if I didn't do what I had always mattered to me so part of it I did for me and part of it I did to set an example for my kids.

My point was that the recent overt “own the libs” actions by this admin are probably playing fairly well with the base. That doesn’t seem to match the vibe of HT. Agree with the rest of your post.

I unfortunately think it’s playing well with the base as well.

Luckily, the true “base” is not all republicans.

The optimist in me thinks this admin is in the beginning stages of FAFO. It shouldnt take many congressional republicans to start putting up problems and given the train derailment on a global and national scale this first month has been, I can’t imagine cracks won’t develop.

The truly scary thing would be when Trump not only is openly defying the courts but openly defies Congress.

The yet scarier thing is his base will not see a problem with that.

Everything is "left" if a person is falling off the right edge of the spectrum.

Sportsmen and women, by need, culture and upbringing, are conservative people. This forum is center-right IMO, if compared to the population as a whole.

It's time for independents to rise up and make a real difference. We've been played by this two party system too long. I was hopeful that in the last election cycle, enough young voters would have finally said enough is enough.

I agree. Politics have a tendency to be very elastic, at least in the context of the 20% or so of voters who actually decide elections.

The right should be very aware that the further you pull a rubber band, the harder it snaps back.

I do a lot of government contracts, and most of them have an “availability of funds” clause that gives the executive branch agency executing the contract an out if they lose their funding. Not sure of the specifics of any recently cancelled contracts (fortunately none of ours have been cancelled), but they may very well have that clause. Whether it would stand up in court as to whether they did indeed lose their funding is another story. I know my company likely wouldn’t try to fight it though.

Pretty sure we’re very close to open defiance of everyone and everything. We’re also very close to realizing how many of those oaths about “enemies, foreign and domestic” will be taken seriously. Or how they interpret enemies.
