Healthy eats

I am more of a calorie counter myself. Light breakfast, low fat yogurt and fruit. Salad or soup for lunch leaves room for a bigger dinner. Try to keep it under 2,000 calories. I stay away from junk, deserts, and snacks. Light beer only if any alcohol.

Cottage cheese + peaches - delicious.

I have oatmeal, cinnamon and fruit for breakfast pretty much every day. Currently the fruit of choice is blueberries. In the summer it’s more often peaches. The past few months I’ve been adding plain whey protein.

I usually meal prep at least my lunches; this week it’s chickpea & potato curry for lunch and today’s dinner is elk steak bites & potatoes (sorry, no pics but they are both delish).

One other thing I do that's helped is because life is life and we do eat out on occasiona out of convenience. I will ask for a box with the meal and take 2/3 to 1/2 the meal and put it in the box right away.

Makes me eat less and makes the cost sting a little easier as I'm getting 2 maybe 3 meals out of 1 😀
Dang - that's a good idea. I'm going to start doing that.

Littlest one’s birthday today. Big brother and I were in charge of the menu. He picked out brownies and frosting that looks like a lake with fish. The frosting puts it over the top but hey, kid’s only gonna turn 2 one time.

When your kid wants there cake to look like a lake full of fish that's a win. Good job.

I try to keep a consistent food schedule during the work week. Yogurt for breakfast, PB&J for lunch after the gym, and dinners are variable. We limit takeout to one dinner a week. It’s not perfect but it’s been helpful keeping to a routine to limit food intake.

I like it a lot! Your son’s birthday cake has better fishing lures than my tackle box!

We were spending a fortune on low fat Greek Yogurt going through 3-4 quarts a week. Even buying the Wally World stuff it was getting expensive. A bit of internet google-fu and I figured out how to make it ourselves. For the cost of a gallon of milk we can make just over 3 quarts.
Just made my first batch of cottage cheese and have a way to go on perfecting that recipe. Best part of it is that I can spell every ingredient in both recipes.
