To top off the yearly "in pictures" by MtMiller I thought it would be cool for each of us to post our best trophy animal and trophy fish from the last decade. "Trophy" being defined as your favorite animal taken and fish caught during 200-2009.

Rules: Took keep this thread from being too cumbersome only post one of your animals and one fish...ah heck, no one follows the rules. :)

I will start with my 2007 Idaho Buck and my 2006 Lake Trout

This photo almost makes it into the photo regret thread as well. Easily my best animal of the decade.

2004 Record Book Buck

Here is my 2004 173" Wisconsin Whitetail. I took him on the 3rd day of the season after scouting him for the week prior to the opener. I had encounters the two nights before I connected, but kept changing things up and eventually he came into range.

According to the 2005 record book he was 3rd place in Winnebago County, WI.
Non-Typical score is 173"
Typical score is 152 3/8

He was my first buck, so my photo experience was lacking. The truck shot definetely goes into the regrets column.

If I don't have a fish photo can I do 2 hunting ones?

My favorite because of the stalk. 2008 hunt. I started up the hill at 10:00pm. At 1:00 am I realized I couldn't see my pins anymore, so I slept under a ledge til 5am or so in the morning. Burr. Finally got the shot @7:00am. I ganked the shot at 34 yards but stayed on him like stink on a monkey. Just beat when it was all done. Far more exciting than the first one.

Probably this, my Montana moose. It's unlikely I'll draw a permit again in MT, and if so, wont' have nearly as amazing of a hunt. Most of the "hunt" was looking for a great bull during the summer. Got him on opening day, September 15, 2007.

I've not done much ocean fishing until I moved up here, and this last summer was pretty awesome to say the least, 22lb Yellow eye. This summer I think a few of these guys will come to the boat via fly rod.

Thats a tough call for me...I've been pretty darn fortunate in the last decade...took three of my best elk ever, best mule deer, best antelope.

But, edging out all of them is an animal I never even shot. It has to be my Dads sheep hunt in Montana. I had a great time, spent a week looking over many large rams and it sure is fun trying to decide if the ram your looking at is over 180 or just slightly under. What a way to spend a week. It was a great hunt with just my Dad and my Brother, and something that according to the draw odds, most will never do in their lifetime. I see too many sheep hunts turn into a circus in Montana...things like the whole issue with the breaks with the Lewton incident for example. My advice to anyone who draws in Montana is to do your own thing...dont listen to all the BS surrounding sheep there, just go enjoy the hunt as you'll never get another chance more than likely.

Favorite fish of the decade, no doubt this wild salmon I caught in Idaho. I never thought I'd ever get the chance to fish the upper Clearwater River in Idaho for king salmon. Glad to say I was wrong and I caught this fish on the opening day of the season in high water and tough conditions. Beautiful fish considering how far it had to go to reach the spot I caught and released it.

The first ten years have been good to me as well. My best bull elk and a couple of great caribou in Quebec. I don't fish either so will use the space for two hunting photo's taken in 2008 and 2009. Figured I'd never get the chance to draw a lower 48 Moose tag so booked a hunt for Canadian Moose for 2008, then ended up drawing the OIL Shiras tag here in Washington in 2009. First is Canada Moose at 55" and next is Shiras at 45".
