Example: our governor just ordered surgeons to cease performing elective surgeries.
I didn’t realize a lawyer knew more about prioritizing caseload and triage than say, a SURGEON.

And I recently found out that a lot of cancer surgeries are “elective”.

Many are considered that.

We have 45 cases and 0 deaths.

They are calling in the national guard to monitor grocery stores.

Couple of random thoughts.

The most effective triage is going to the first triage, either in the field or at first contact at a facility. We learned that in theaters of war and we now seeing that carried over into a pandemic situation. It maybe even more critical then before.

The suspension of elective surgery less to do with surgery and more to do with space. Surgical rooms are the most easly converted preexisting space to convert to ICU and containment areas.

At what point does Chinese data become suspect to point of it being discounted ? Think about what it means if their stats where released with a decimal multiplier...for example .25 ?

Sounds like CA just announced statewide lockdown. Sounds like still able to get essential goods - groceries, meds, etc. Watch for details.
One vote of complete support , right here. At least on the surface.....
As Fauci said (paraphrasing) - "we need to be taking steps we are criticized for" (google it).
We either believe the scientsy folks or not.
Sounds like Newsom - love or hate him - is maybe taking the subject matter expert at his word.

There is currently not an issue with or anywhere near an issue with hospital capacity due to CoronaVirus in this state.
There are doctors in counties with 0 confirmed cases that cannot do their jobs tomorrow.
Surgeons in surgery centers in Flagstaff, Safford, Yuma, Kingman, etc have to cancel surgery first thing tomorrow morning because 45 people in Maricopa, Pinal and Pima County have this virus. It’s an overreaction.

You sound surprised and doubtful. Take it from someone who endured prostate cancer, suspected as a result of exposure to Agent Orange. I underwent a lengthy process and postponed the radical prostatectomy surgery for several months, but it could have been much longer with little to no additional adverse impacts. Some cancers are very slow growing and not of the critical immediate need for surgery. That would be an example of not necessarily an elective surgery, but of a surgery not requiring immediate hospitalization.

I fondly remember being 30 years old - and so goddamned intelligent and @#)(# sure:ROFLMAO:

Just pretend I thought I was posting in the pandemic funnies thread - and pretend to laugh................................

Edited: to be nice to our public ‘servants’

I am glad you can see yourself in my shoes. Because I damn sure will never be in yours, thankfully.

I still can’t find numbers that make me certain one way or the other.

I’m certain it’s real.

I’m certain that it’s new.

I’m certain that I don’t want it.

Yeah, but is making room for people that aren’t there a good reason to postpone surgery? If this actually gets out of hand it might be a LONG time before we can get to all of those surgeries. Can’t let the hospital and surgeons make that call?

You become Lombardy when you don't overreact.
It's not a light switch, you can't just decide one day to start taking it seriously.

There is a big difference between mingling and acting like nothing is going on vs choosing not to treat patients because some new patients might show up. Hopefully the combination of social distancing and the early travel shutdown will keep the number of people that eventually need medical care much lower than Lombardy.

I’m sure there are places that need to prepare more than others.

It does seem like an overreaction.

The only reason I can think of would be to not use any medical supplies that they are anticipating a need for.

My guess though, is that people on high are scared, feel the need to signal something, and aren’t necessarily thinking things through.

Boy would this be an interesting experience "fireside" with this group discussing this after a few beers. Think positive folks! Outta 330 million people in this country let alone 8 billion plus in the world it only takes one to really start a shit show and go postal.... creating a horrific domino effect.....
