As pointed out in the Mayo podcast, closing schools, which have populations of the lowest risk, in cities without any cases is an overreaction, and puts an additional and unnecessary strain on the healthcare industry, as many nurses have children, and nurses need to be at work, not worrying about how to take care of a kid that should be in school.

Sadly, we shit the bed regarding testing, up to and including the present. The only reason our numbers aren't higher, is that we have tested fewer people in total than other countries are testing daily.

Yeah, we're relying on statistics from China (dubious) and cases and a minority of cases in Italy and South Korea.

Yeah, it's hard to see how it could spread so fast in China. Multiple families living in the same house, same rooms, houses built 3 feet apart, extremely over populated and crowded everywhere. Can't understand it...

Suddenly having a garden full of food that has not been touched by dozens of people and that you don't have to go anywhere to get seems like a great idea.

Finished this up this past weekend. Based off of the hügelkultur method of eastern Europe. Rotten wood on bottom, leaf litter, sticks, straw in layers. It will be getting sown with lettuces, spinach soon followed by radishes, carrots, etc. My 4th large raised bed, as well as having about a half acre of traditional garden, hundreds of jars, 3 pressure canners, fermenters for kraut. Makes it less worrisome on the food front.

12,500 deaths / 60 million infections = 0.2% death rate.

Coronavirus
Assume same 60 million infections x Estimated 2% death rate = 1,200,000 deaths.

Although there is a lot unknown, the above is the concern. Of course that death rate could fluctuate either way but so could the infection rate.

And I watch/read plenty of news, from various sources, and I've not heard "Trump Flu" either. Maybe because I avoid the extremes on either end?
