2025 NM draw results

First year applying for 14 yr old boy and myself. Our 3rd choices for Elk both 20% so chat GPT says that works out to a 36% chance one of us will draw. We applied after striking out in AZ & ID. Trying to get back in the game after a 14 year break (not coincidence with timing of first born...LOL). Sucks to have taken that long of break, but he's turned into a hunting nut like his Dad, so hopefully some West adventures to come soon.

All this talk about the good ole days, the OTC unit I used to hunt in Idaho could pick up a tag in late August and go hunting in Sept. This year did the wait in line thing and that unit sold out in 30 minutes before we were ever even close to getting a chance at it. Things have definitely changed.

Not sure if you're a resident or not, but they do have some good youth encouragement cow tags for NM.

It wont be needed because you WILL draw, but you know.... just in case.

Haha...I like the positive vibes. Non residents unfortunately....which is how I ended up giving up the West game while kids have been growing up.

Plan D is going to be Colorado secondary draw, which I under youth get 100% preference for. Need to research up a little more on that process if we get rejected next week....did preference points for main draw in CO, but I think the secondary draw is separate and doesn't use points for....

I'm so curious about Oryx meat but I never draw. I hope this is the year

Oryx meat is or can be tough. Regardless, it sorta cooks like a piece of pork without the porky flavor. It will taste however you season it. I had a burger party with about 25 guests this summer with fresh ground cow elk and fresh ground oryx. I did add beef brisket fat to each prior to grinding and seasoned with salt and pepper. Many of our friends commented how good the oryx was after dinner. Good stuff!

You get inundated with Fishing Reports in April. The magazine, and other various teases.

I looked for news on the SB5 bill and had to go to the newspaper to see it passed , but with a line item veto...no mention of what was vetoed. LOL
No wonder papers are only good for rolling now.

So we are a Wildlife Dept. state now.
Still pisses me off only 1 hunter/fisherman allowed. They could have added some pronouns. Hunterwomens and such.

yes, the guess is when this happens the draw is happening or is very close to happening. No proof that it is, but that's the guess. Those 2 things use to be a backdoor to find results, so that's why they get deactivated.

Correct. And if you drew a OIL hunt, it will show up in that section as well.
