Recently picked up a 20 inch 308 in the SFAR. Grabbed about a Dozen different boxes of ammo. After a good cleaning I took it to the range. Put about 40 rounds through it first day sighting in the scope. VORTEX strike eagle 1-8×24. Saw close to 2 moa in the wind with nosler whitetail country. This is all at gas setting 3. No problems feeding or ejecting but brass was chewed up on case heads. Called customer service at Ruger and they recommended up to 100 rounds at setting 3 and then switch to setting 2.
I ordered a tubbs flatwire buffer spring. This helped but brass still showed extracter marks. But wasn't cracking brass. After 100 rounds I cleaned gun and switched to setting 2. Brass heads are way better on setting 2. Small smudge marks but not bad for ar10. Saw accuracy average 1.75 moa in a hefty wind. Ppu 150 was the best group that day. I bought this gun for a predator gun for coyote and lion hunting. Really hoping barnes 130 ttsx would group well. Best cold bore group was .699 shooting 3050 fps. Averaged close to 1 moa after 3, 3 shot groups. After 200 rounds with no issues and it shooting the barnes well it was ready for the shaker can special. Anyone looking for a lightweight ar10 at 7.3 pounds this ruger is a nice setup. My experience so far has been positive
