2023 Garden!

Long time coming, but here is an update.
Got the garden disked and most seeds hit the dirt June 11th… a little later than I’d like here in Wisco, but it was the first chance I had with the move.
Couple weeks later and we’ve got pretty good growth on everything.
I finally got the fence up to keep the nosiest big doe, Carla, away, or at least that’s the theory

First peppers from the garden mean stuffed peppers for dinner. Also used some wax peppers and jalapeños for seasoning.

Love looking at the gardens in here, mine has a long way to go yet. I can't get my girlfriend to space anything correctly and I'm always somehow off on watering, pruning, and fertilizing. Even still, there's beans, peppers, and tomatoes to be had this year.

first one of the year. Of course my two year old helper watched then picked about 12 green tomatoes for me.

.99 of an inch in my gauge. First measurable rain in several weeks. We’ve still only had about 1.6” since Mother’s Day in May.

Blackberry season has been in for about 2 weeks here. Had a local lady get bit by a rattlesnake last week while she was picking berrys

I'm in South Central PA, our black raspberries are over, red and yellow as well as wine berries are in full swing to waning at this point, black berries getting going. We had a really dry spring and early summer, but the rain has really kicked in over the last several weeks and the fruit trees and bushes seem to be responding well. My apple, asian pear and peach trees are all loaded up. Now patiently waiting for picking season.

Makes me glad I'm only dealing with a few deer, bunnies and ground hogs.

Pumpkin vines are going nuts. Zucchini and yellow squash fried in olive oil and garlic for dinner. Harvested turnips, turnip greens, and have about 6 quarts of green leaf lettuce. Watermelon and cantelope vines are really slow, and might not fruit, we’ll see.
