Will the Presidents Actions lead to hard lines being drawn by hunters?

It may be a little premature to criticize President Trump based on initial executive actions. Donald Jr. and Eric are both big game hunters ( though somewhat controversial) and their father has shown consistent support for their hunting activities. President Trump is also a gun owner. Hillary Clinton is not and is a staunch supporter of gun legislation. Does the American sportman really believe he/she would be better off with Ms. Clinton?

Dang, sounds like you must have been home last Thursday when Obama came and took away all your guns. I was away from home, so Obama didn't get my guns. And, now I don't have to worry about Hillary taking my guns. It really must suck to have had the bad luck that you were that worried about losing your guns.

I don't understand the naive enfatuation with the two older Trump boys being some kind of excuse for hunters to allow their father to destroy things we hold dear.

I have known quite a few hunters who I don't trust their judgement, ethics, and intelligence. The standard for being issued a hunting license is pretty low. The boys have shown they would sell access to their father, and, they stuck some of the boy's foreign business partners IN the inaugural parade. The boys are all about putting Trump name on as much real estate as possible.

Obviously it doesn't matter now but yes, I do think I'd be better off with Hillary and I know I was way better off with Mr. Obama for 8 years, never heard a peep in those 8 years from his Administration about selling my public lands and it would have been the same under a Hillary Administration, but again, it's pointless to discuss it now. I guess I'm just one of those guys who doesn't buy into the notion because one doesn't believe in any gun regulations whatsoever it makes him/her good on guns. Would you consider someone who believes there should be no regulations on hunting and fishing, good on hunting and fishing? It's the same damn thing IMO.

Um, ya, we would have been better off with Clinton, at least in terms of hunting and hunting access. she was WAY more center-left than President Obama was. As much as I dislike her, she was a known quantity. Trump is not. Firearms are protected by the 2nd Amendment and maybe the 3rd most powerful lobby in Washington DC. In 8 years under President Obama, not once did I feel that my rights were being infringed or at risk of being taken away. In fact, Obama's (imaginary) WAR ON GUNS failed so miserably, I know own 2x more firearms than I did 8 years ago. And the lack of .22 ammo wasn't his fault.

You know what pisses me off; now we have a Republican President, a Republican House, a Republican Senate, the wars are WAY off from peak and I'm still paying more than 30 cents every time I send a 5.56 or a .45 acp down range. Why isn't the market flooded with cheap ammo? And shouldn't the price of weapons be in the toilet now? I mean Wall Street is all atwitter over mere speculation about what this change in power means. You'd think the arms and ammo industry would at least dump their prices. Hmmmm.

I think if we focus on the issues we agree on, like public land, than we can be effective. The biggest thing I saw when I lived in Ca was the inability of sportsmans groups to unite because of petty differences. And slowly things just get chipped away because each issue alone is a easy target. Even the op of this thread listed a bunch of things trump has done I could care less about, when it comes to public land, hunting, fishing, etc I am with pretty much everyone on this forum. But on many other issues and as a former business owner and resident of a southern state I see things differently. Focus on what we have in common..

If your only concern with Trump is public lands, you might be a very selfish person.

Wow! Being in this forum is like being in an alternative universe. Unbelievable! Trump's been doing a great job. In less than a week he's accomplished way more than Obama did in 8 years. Finally someone who is dealing with the illegal immigration issue. And many other things. All good. We're so lucky to have him as our president. There's not one thing he's done that I disagree with.

The price and availability of guns and ammo have been getting better by the week since election day. If you can't find the deals, then that is your own doing (or lack thereof).

It's been less than a week and the world is ending already. We better get ready to fight for our right.

Dannybe278!

I totally disagree with your premise that you did not have the balls to back a candidate and then be critical of the winner in the first week. He won, give him a chance.

I hated the women's march. But if you voted, I have total respect for women the protested. Do not agree. but you have the right to do so.

To sit on the side lines and then complain is total BULLSHIT.

I support my local brick and mortar if I can. There are several of them. And prices are the same.

But, if you are right, you just admitted it was all a bunch of conservative hysteria, hand-wringing and cowardly BS.

The only reason that Obummer didn't take away our guns was that the Republicans held the house and wouldn't allow it. Hillary is as anti-gun or even more so than Barry, so while we could enjoy our public lands we'd all have to take-up archery hunting. Anti-hunting groups are for the most part liberals, so they would have had Over-the-Hillary's ear as well. I'll stick with my boy Trump thank you.

Maybe you can send Donald a PM and beg him for information on where to kill a cow elk in Wyoming in a unit that's 3K+ over objective...he can then claim another accomplishment.

If not maybe Don Jr. or Eric can help you out...I hear they're great hunters.

BTW, Trump hasn't done anything but sign a bunch of EO's...that's the easy part.

"Obummer". "Barry". "Over-the-Hillary"

What is the point of not being able to refer to those two individuals by their actual name?

It definitely identifies you as someone who relies on alt-right racist sources for your #FakeNews.

Remember that time President Obama signed on EO on his first day in office to close Guantanamo. His supporters cheered, "finally something is being done", I'd bet good money we will see the same again. Just a little hay for the flock.

Remember that time wimmens took to the street to protest the vilification of Slick Willie's (no pun Jose) female detractors?

....me neither.

When all the bighorns are dead, and you have to pay a $10k access fee to hunt mule deer, enjoy polishing guns in the backyard every fall.

There's a constitutional amendment protecting guns.

But I'd rather archery hunt in your worst case scenario.

This election more than any I have seen people tear each other apart, friends, family, coworkers you name it. Were the candidates bad? Depends on who you ask. My take on this whole ordeal is we are more divided now than before and personally I think that defeats the purpose of an election and what we stand for as a country. Yes people have differences yes some of our ethical ideals differ but to tear down your neighbor or friend because they believe different than you? Social media this past week and even since the election has been filled with so much hate its embarrassing to actually see.

Republicans say democrats need to suck it up and stop protesting because they had to when Obama won and they didn't riot or protest. Well people protested then too and rioted. What I hate seeing more than anything else is people saying we won you lost. This isn't a competition we are all on the same team. Use what ever analogy you want we just changed quarterbacks or starting pitchers we still have to finish the game.

When we are as divided as we are as a country things do not get done. What one group did the past 8 years is getting unraveled right away. And if Trump doesn't win the next election will everything he has done be unraveled too? A complete waste of time if you ask me. There has to be compromises somewhere and to actually get things done. Go in with an open mind to actually solve problems and hear out the other side and find a solution that works best for everyone.

That is my rant for the day
