You know what's wild is I think the oldest rifle I actually hunt with is my Savage 100 7mmMag from the 70s. I honestly don't hunt with it at all anymore so my oldest hunting rifle is from the early 90s
Another Rem 600.....Sweet !Gewehr 1898 Mauser 8mm Mauser my grandfather brought home from World War II. My dad shot his first deer with that rifle on a big whitetail buck in the Missouri Breaks of Montana. I have not shot anything with it.

I remember when I first saw Quigley Down Under and had to have that rifle...the copycats have doubled in price since then.Time for a Shiloh Sharps, Grant. 45-70 Carbine would be just about right.
I'm looking forward to April's next post!I was waiting for Brent, April, and Ben to post.
I think he meant a .250-3000300 Sav.
I remember when I first saw Quigley Down Under and had to have that rifle...the copycats have doubled in price since then.
The fortunate part is I have plenty of 45-70 brass and some 405gr cast bullets...also plenty of pure lead ingots in the basement
I can third the same rifle, same era (51) except I’m pretty sure dad bought it for himself right before he got married in 1952, so he could have the rifle he wanted. Have a m12 heavy duck made the same year. The places they have been.I have and use pretty much the same gun. My grandma bought it for grandpa in 52. I did replace the scope when the crosshairs started creeping to the left. It is now topped with a Leupold.
I have an older one in 22/410 also, 410 barrel muzzel is countersunk about 1/2'' and front sight has a white insert; not much blueing left but locks up tight and functions well. great for tree rats and bunnies.. found it at a pawn shop 25+ yrs ago and paid $125 for it. love itBut the oldest weapon I still use is a Stevens 22/410 O/U built in the late 30's, early 40's.(later developed into the 24V). Can't hit Crap with the 22, but the 410 is fun for tree rats & bunnies !
