I hear there's a guy from the Muledeer Foundation trying to start a chapter in North Idaho.

I saw a guy talking about starting a chapter of Sportsmen for Fish & Wildlife around here too.

What do you know of either of them?

I can tell you that the Mule deer foundation is Not starting a Chapter up there. I jsut had Lunch with a national Board member that lives here in Idaho. N. Idaho is Whitetails. Why would they bring a Mule deer org up there :D

Also, S.F.W. is an OK group. I think they are building mmentum and have some good Ideas and are getting stuff done. DHI is planning to team with them on some Projects. It is a Political Org that shuffles ALOT of Caholas around. that can fall under the BAd as well as good category depending how you look at it.

I know next year DHI (Der Hunters of Idaho) will open up a Chapter up there. And I've heard they have ther heart in the Right place and focus on deer white tails and Mulies and that their President is quet the nice guy too. But then again, I'm a Bit Bias maybe ;)

Thats my .02

Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife, started IIRC as Utah Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife and is ran by Don Peay. They've been successful on getting their voice heard on certain issues in UT and even led a large march on the state capital to stop a vote. They do spend/generate alot of money for wildlife issues, it's how that's spent that bothers me. When I was looking into the org 2yrs ago they were spending/donating $200K per year on predator control. Not that I'm against that, but just think how many acres of critical deer winter range that could buy yearly! They teamed with FNAWS to get Calif. Bighorn Sheep planted on two mountain ranges in the west desert. However, neither the USFWS, BLM, or UDWR has been able to get enough funding for at least the last five years to do a proper census. Just some info that I've come across. I don't think they're a bad group, just have some differences with some of their spending practices and leadership.

I had really expected to hear from GUMMER and IT about these groups. I mean the question was "What do you'se guys know about.......", and they always seem to .......... :D :D

I guess since it aint a presidential (canidate)issue, or something that would support the DEMONcratic party, it doesn't merit their attention right now. :D
