Just a hunch on my part,

I'm sitting here watching an interview on Fox with the General in charge of special operations in Iraq and Afganistan. He was asked by the reporter if he thought he was dead. He said he didn't know for sure, the reporter then made a statement that many in the intel community said he was dead and the general just got this odd little smirk. I really think Osama is dead, and I have been thinging this for about the last year. There is a reason Bush no longer speaks much about him. I had an article on the forum about 6 months ago called "Hunting Bin laden" and it had some good arguments supporting him being dead.

What would be the purpose of not disclosing that information? Election year politics? Just curious.

Let's see.. If he is dead, everyone will presume that he was killed by the US. That makes him a martyr and lays the blame on Uncle Sugar. Uncle's already a really bad man over there. No use making things any worse.

Which is preferable, a live enemy or a dead martyr?

Given the condition of his kidneys and the fact that when last seen he was on dialysis every day, the chances of him surviving without that treatment are slim and none. He's probably been dead for some time. I agree with Nemont.

You know I've been wondering why all the audio coming out is from his second in command ( I can't spell it) instead of Osama himself. You may be on to something Fecl.

I think OBL is at the back of a cave somewhere covered by a bunch of rocks and sand. The general in the interview said that if he was dead that the jihadists would not want it known for a bunch of reasons. They replayed the interview on Fox's Sunday's best. If he is not dead he is irrelevant in the overall scope of the war on terror.

"Irrelevant" That's a very appropriate term for Osama the man.. except that there are some 200,000 male children that have been born in the Muslim world over the last 20 months that are named Osama. That speaks volumes for Osama the legend. Do you really believe that he is irrelevant, Fecl?
