Obama got re-elected because enough welfare receipients and homeless people who could use an intersection as an address that liked their free handouts came out to vote for him to make sure the handouts kept flowing. That's what I fear happening with Bernie...people liking and wanting stuff for free coming out of the woodwork to vote. This is purely my opinion.

your opinion AND mine!!! I cannot believe anyone is considering Hillary?? ...we wonder why we are in the mess we are.....

...we wonder why we are in the mess we are.....

No need to wonder: Bush Jr. and company. It'll be another 10 or 20 years before we undo all that, if ever. :p

Agree about Hillary, though; more of the same, as would be Jeb, Cruz, Rubio.

"The press said, 'How do we know the difference between (real hunters and) the imposters?'" said Peay. "And they said, 'Well, it's really simple. They miss, and we don't.'"

Forget Trump's sons for a minute. Could this guy be any bigger a D-bag?

It tells me a lot about Trump, actually.

I'm glad he came out against Transfer of public lands, but I am not voting for the guy because I don't want the SFW infection to spread to Pennsylvania avenue. Judge that guy by the company he keeps, and that's Don Peay & those who steal your wildlife for personal gain.

Seems like a match made in heaven, or Vegas.

Ben,

I'm just playing devils advocate here, but isn't this the same logic those green decoy buffoons use against BHA? I don't necessarily agree with all the organizations that donate to them, but it doesn't stop me from being a member because I really believe in what BHA stands for.

I can't stand SFW and Don, but I don't know if them supporting Trump means trump will 100% support what they are about.

This post isn't necessarily an endorsement of Trump, though if I had to vote tomorrow, I don't think I'd have any choice but to vote for him.

Trump is the ideal candidate for those w Alzheimer's. They remember his name from somewhere. They can't recall his past, or even what he said last month. They relate to his irritability and lack of impulse control. They like the hat, and desperately want to go back to the good old days. And they won't have to tolerate the results of his administration.

But he is personally responsible for the tear-down of the Berlin Wall. He told Gorbachev to tear it down, and because Reagan was such an imposing, mighty, leading, inspiring man who had restored America to it's former glory, Gobachev did it.

By allowing the Russians to buy our wheat and corn, and making them pay in gold, and not credits or rubles or vodka, Reagan helped the house of cards economics of the Soviet block start to fall. Nearly simultaneously brave shipyard workers in Poland made that regime blink, and perestroika/glasnost started unthawing the frozen masses of communist Europe/Asia.

I believe Ronald Reagan did see the world as two competing ideologies, and he took steps, as best he could, to have American capitalism and representative government dominate Marxist communism/socialism.

I wouldn't get all twisted up just yet about the Peay/Trump connection...long way to November.

Its going to be an uphill pull for the R's.

If Trump is the nominee, he will face a Romney-type problem with the far side of the Republican base. The hard right vote of the Republican party turned out in lower numbers in 2012, or less so than in other elections, many citing it was because Romney was Mormon. Maybe they saw how that impacted the outcome in some states and they will vote this time.

Trump is hardly the choice of the that same voting block within the Republican Party. Will they turn out or stay home if he is the nominee? It will be tough for Trump even if they show up, but far more difficult if that segment of the Republican Party again turns out in lower numbers.

Well if the Peay endorsement is a killer, what is the Koch Brothers commitment to sinking millions into turning away Trump say? Just saying, what does it take to make a difference? John

I may be a bit biased. ;) But I do think that it matters in that he's getting an earful from Peay on how things should be, especially as it relates to access, Endangered Species, Conservation Funding, etc. It's great for Trump to stand up and support public lands, but he offers no policy positions other than the dog whistle. Where is he on the Clean Power Plan? Waters of the U.S.? Etc? - if he's listening to Peay, then he's probably coming out on the wrong side.

If he starts listening to folks who are actual conservationists, then my mind might change, but he's going to have to abandon his unconstitutional approaches to several issues and walk back the chicken hawk BS.

The other thing to remember is that he says whatever he thinks will garner the most votes and honestly, a lot of what he says leans towards an authoritarian style that ignores the constitutional rights of others in favor of pandering to an agry base of Rep voters who see that nobody has done anything in congress for the last 8 years, as well as the Obama Derangement Syndrome instilled by so many pundits.

Was thinking the same thing. We can't control who others support and just because they throw support to someone doesn't necessarily mean the candidate is tainted. There's plenty of idiots throwing support to just about every candidate.

I think that had little to do with it. Rather, they (suffering from the same macho stupidity we do), tried to keep up with our massive defense spending and could not do it. We suffered too, and still do, but our military industrial complex won. Oh, and it makes no educated sense to combine communism and socialism with a slash, as if they were anything like the same thing. But, as kids these days say "whatever." If you want to see socialism, look at the U.S. and every other representative democracy on Earth, some more than others.

First and foremost, I tend to vote conservative on many issues. So before I am called a socialist, liberal or whatever take that into consideration. In NO WAY will I ever vote for that criminal, Clinton. As far as Sanders is concerned, as of right now I only wish that he succeeds in becoming the Democratic candidate, ending Clintons chances for good.

Frankley, I am just disgusted on what the Republican Party has become since 2001 and in the Frankenstein Monster they created.

What I love about Trump is the Fun House Mirror he shines on the Republican Party. The RNC hates him, yet a large amount of the people that the RNC pander too, love him. Trumps appearance on the national stage is a direct result of years of candidates pandering to the Evangelicals and Tea Party folks, and then failing to live up to their impossible expectations.

The main reason I cant stand Trump is how he began his campaign in earnest. Trump kick started his campaign by classic propaganda, that outside forces like Muslims, Gays, and Mexicans are somehow destroying us from within, and that he would “Make America Great Again!”

This is a classic tactic used by dictator types to gain or hold power. I ran into this type as an Army Infantryman in Kosovo following Clintons bombing of Serbia in response to the Serb Slobodan Milosevic’s genocide against Albanians within Serbian borders

The Bundy’s also use this message of communists/liberals/socialists etc as infiltrating America to advance their goals

I'm not going to buy into his Schtick just because he spent 5 minutes at a Sportsman convention stating that he was a Public Lands guy.

As a American and a Veteran, I REFUSE to vote for the party, R or D that gets its votes through Fear Mongering.

Romney had the race locked-up 10 days before the election. He played "prevent defense" and Sandy blew in right before the election and gave Obama the chance to be Presidential. (Romney even admits he screwed up, but they thought they had it won and would only risk losing by being seen.)

Romney never generated enthusiasm, Trump is entirely enthusiasm and very little substance (as Ben points out), but the last guy that ran that way won twice... so maybe it works.

I have to disagree with Ben on Don Peays endorsement being a deal killer. If I demanded 'purity of endorsement' (my phrase, but I like it) from every candidate, I could never vote for anybody. Peay is a regionally-known individual who I see getting no substantial attention from the Trump campaign.

Read the Petersen Hunting interview with Trump and Trump Jr. and see if you think a President Trump is ever gonna listen to Peay over his own sons and the Sportsmen's groups that are praising him. Peay is a flash in the pan to Donald Trump and nothing more.

Putin, Palin, and now Peay, you can't deny there is a pattern.

Fair enough. Go ahead and vote for the other candidate that shares public land positions with Boone & Crockett, RMEF, BHA, TRCP, Field & Stream, Petersen Hunting, etc. But make sure they're pro-gun, too, or else its all for naught.

When I decide who to vote for, it will be because I agree with some of their positions, not because somebody else agrees with some of their positions also.
