I’m familiar with Bowmar and MF and their shenanigans, but what’s the story with RMEF and ONX? Have a link to a story? I try to be pretty well informed- I try to be careful with who gets my hard-earned money.
Thank you for your concern but considering we went fishing a few days later and I took him to a spot that we both got our limits I don’t think he will hold a grudge. My dad never left me behind as a kid, and I’m sure I severely cramped his style on some of our trips with his buddies looking back on it now.
He’s the only one that will get 100% accurate info 100% of the time.
Jason has leased that ranch for years. Long before the RMEF film. They didn’t pay for him to hunt a private ranch. They paid for his time and filmmaking abilities. I’m not a Matzinger fan by any stretch but this faux outrage is dumb as hell.RMEF paid for Jason Matzinger (spelling?) to hunt a private ranch in eastern Montana a few years back for publicity. I can spend some time digging up proof, try looking for yourself first. If you can’t find it I’ll do it.
Same with onX, read up on this by googling OnX hypocrisy rokslide. I won’t post the link because it’s probably forbidden.
Thank you for that interesting read and reminding me to cancel OnX prior to subscription renewal next month. I was going to drop OnX this year because it’s become shitty. A few years back OnX connectivity even offline was superb and useful new updates were regularly rolling out. Now I find it tracks poorly and the updates aren’t better.RMEF paid for Jason Matzinger (spelling?) to hunt a private ranch in eastern Montana a few years back for publicity. I’ve wanted to like their podcast but for some reason it just doesn’t capture me at all. I like their model and business approach, but they are just boring to me.Any of you guys try the guys at Hunt Backcountry, makers of EXO packs? They don't blow up spots, accept gear sponsors, and recently they expressly denied the notion of ever selling out to holding companies (unlike the Yeti/Mystrey Ranch as the latest).
I've been listening to them for about three years now and I don't recall them ever blowing up spots.
The edge they gain is they can freely talk about gear that really works, how and why it works. Sure, they will have companies come on to talk about their products, but EXO won't sell out. To me that is so meaningful.
Their podcasts are great since they bring on regular joe's; from those who have hunted all their lives, adult onset hunters, and those that are in their first season. So much is gained from candid reflections on their hunts: you gain from mistakes, successes, and character that builds from all of that.

Edit to add: I didn’t see your last response until I had posted this.
I agree, that there is a dull, NPR-like tone. Admittedly, this was an acquired taste for me. Like the earlier commenters on this thread, I've grown weary of the entertainment-heavy podcasts and shows. I now value dull, spartan information that's unadulterated with gear sponsors.I’ve wanted to like their podcast but for some reason it just doesn’t capture me at all.
