I got some of my grandpa's letters.
Quick family history told to my aunt & uncle,dictated.
One page was Great Great Great Grandpa Henry.

1820. He had left the family in Conn. and went west.
Wound up trapping in South Colorado and Northern NM.
Ended up in a claim town with a lumber mill and a partner who ran the saloon.
He had a native wife and they sold out to his partner and headed back to Conn.
Adolf Coors was the partner and the wife died of "the fever" on the way.

I wish I could ask him one last question, still.

I’m familiar with Bowmar and MF and their shenanigans, but what’s the story with RMEF and ONX? Have a link to a story? I try to be pretty well informed- I try to be careful with who gets my hard-earned money.

RMEF paid for Jason Matzinger (spelling?) to hunt a private ranch in eastern Montana a few years back for publicity. I can spend some time digging up proof, try looking for yourself first. If you can’t find it I’ll do it.

Thank you for your concern but considering we went fishing a few days later and I took him to a spot that we both got our limits I don’t think he will hold a grudge.

I’ll tell you what makes him mad though, when I text him the cell phone video I shot of him missing an elk in a high mountain meadow that I killed an elk in 3 days before and led him up to because I knew there was more elk coming out there.

You can call RMEF’s accountant (CFO) Shane Cronk and he will tell you they paid Matzinger for making the film on a piece of land he leases. I’d imagine that isn’t the first time these conservation orgs do this.

Jason has leased that ranch for years. Long before the RMEF film. They didn’t pay for him to hunt a private ranch. They paid for his time and filmmaking abilities. I’m not a Matzinger fan by any stretch but this faux outrage is dumb as hell.

Thank you for that interesting read and reminding me to cancel OnX prior to subscription renewal next month. I was going to drop OnX this year because it’s become shitty. A few years back OnX connectivity even offline was superb and useful new updates were regularly rolling out. Now I find it tracks poorly and the updates aren’t better.
Dozen years back I used Gaia and still have it today because it works. This year I’ll buy BaseMap too because my experience so far with free BaseMap has gone well.
