The next surge

Will we see another surge in people relocating to the mountain states, specifically Montana after the terrible fires in California? mtmuley
It is indeed likely.
(Does Montana have any laws against destroying invasive species?)

I honestly don’t think there will be much of surge. 12,000 homes destroyed. Some will rebuild. Some will stay in other parts of California. Some will move out of California, but spread out all over the U.S.
Didn't realize it was up to 12,000 homes

Yes. More people will come. And it doesn't have to be a big percentage of Californians to be a big percentage change in Montana. It's not just people being burned out, it's people who are just sick of the situation there. Sadly, many will build homes in fire-prone rural areas in Montana (aka winter range, former hunting spots) and we'll see more of the same. We seem to have a hard time learning sometimes.

A fricken TV show brought people here. mtmuley
Yep, and there’s another one coming. They have already filmed the new Yellowstone show “The Madison” here in Ennis. It will air later this year. It will be a shit show. Not looking forward to it at all.

So you don't think we will see an influx of people? You came here. mtmuley

Feel bad for you guys out west. Same thing happening here. Covid really got folks moving out of the east coast cities to our rural state. Now urban crime is pushing more here. Unfortunately, we don’t have a lot of Federal land. They come with buckets of cash buying up all the old dairy farms.

Tons went to dizzyland and never left. Ruined it.

Heard Tejas and the Carolinas mentioned.
Montana is as expensive as CA.

Altadena was a nice bluecollar town 30 years ago.
