Good luck with that... pretty hard to name one western state that either doesn’t already face that now (metro ruled) or won’t in the near future.

Kinda like out here where they always want to make some border change with Nor Cal/So&E OR/NV/ID under the premise of small self governing. I’d love to break from the dealings of Portland but also don’t know about then living in the poorest and most underrepresented “new” state in the union.

I think the new electoral college should be based on land mass more land within the district the more representatives ha ha. I have looked at greater Idaho map and it would have quite a few electoral votes we wouldn’t be poor or underrepresented Idaho was number 1 in the nation for increased tax revenue last year up over 10 percent heck were practically rich! Something about not closing the world down for COVID and increased sales tax from all the people from states that did close down. Funny I would have thought half the population of Idaho would have died based on CNN unfortunately I think our population doubled. My kids when to school 5 days a week no masks and all sports held during regular season. Most of them lived

As stated at the beginning, what I DO care about is people who come from places and situations (especially the large metro portions of CA) that have be effectively crippled by horrible social, governmental and ecological policies and then go about starting the same operations here. Huge difference between joining and embracing what was here.

Pretty simple. You ruined where you came from with your politics and escaped to a better way of life. Becoming a NEW resident first thing you do is “fix” your new state most dangerous words any new resident says is “well in California we did it this way!!” Insert any state with fleeing refugees not picking on California although 80 percent of my new neighbors seem to be from there. SFC is correct. If you like your new state and did not like your old state leave things alone!

I believe this is where I’m supposed to drop my multigenerational native status and suggest that your opinion holds no merit based on that fact alone.

Listen if you or if the idiot from summit, want to pick a specific housing policy from CA that caused issues and is now being advocated for in Colorado I’m all for that conversation. From my first post on this thread that has been my point.

Your last two posts continue to harp on political stances that have 0 to do with economics, housing, zoning, development plans, or transportation.

I too voted no on wolves, and I’m irritated it passed, but wolves on the western slope IMHO has nothing to do with planning and dev and/or TABOR.

Isn't that what happened to California in the 1970's-1990's? Everyone from the Northeast and upper-mid-West poured into California and now that they have devoured it, they are moving to new feeding grounds.
I have yet to meet 10 California natives in Colorado. When I meet someone who moved here from CA, I always ask where they were born. And they always seem to have eastern roots and they want you to know it too, with statements like I'm originally a buckeye, cheesehead, etc....

I'm 50, and often think how the west use to be when I was growing up, and cant help but wish that the Govt would force people and their minor children, to move back to wherever their family was during the 1970 census. Heck just about every western state would lose 50% of its population including California!

But I'm sure there are plenty of Indians that wish my dream would go back to the white population of 250 years ago

That one VERY simplistic metric of the governor's office is in no way an indicator.

BTW, there have been 3 R governors in that time period, not one......but if you want to split hairs about their "election" dates for hyperbole I guess that is cool. Have a good one.

OK - 1 Republican governor in 47 years. I think the top elected official in a state is a decent barometer of the states 'leanings', I would absolutely agree it is not the be-all/end-all measurement, but it certainly is an indicator.

You moved to CO... Seems like folks with different politics are doing the same.

What I was getting at was more along these lines. I moved here 25 years ago (the first 3y in COS) and I see a whole lot more people (over a 50% increase in that time - but more than that in the metro area), and a lot of challenges and topics that result from a rapidly increasing population, not a massive shift in political persuasion. Put another way - that 'volume' has had a more significant impact on the topic in the thread (housing and public lands) than any kind of political measurement, and if you look back, our state 'political' makeup hasnt really changed very much in the recent past.

Would that be Mr. Bill Owens who made the DOW an enterprise agency that guaranteed that the DOW/CPW would always put revenue above everything else? Also putting Russel George at the helm who gave us the Landowner voucher system as we know it? And DNR director Greg Walcher who talked about making the larger SWA's into Ranching for Wildlife places to sell tags?

Umm anyone could have done exactly what Peter thiel accomplished. There is an income limit on Roth contributions so the wealthy can’t even use one. He met that income limit and purchased a couple great stocks and turned 2000 dollars into 5 billion? That greedy bastard!!! Wait any waitress,school teacher, police officer or ditch digger could have done the EXACT same thing. Ya but I’m not as good of a stock picker and that’s not fair !!!

Actually read the article. He bought into IPO's that aren't available to the average retail investor and got preferential share prices. So no, not anyone could do that.
