Task force $1,950 NR elk tag

I would add, people get interested in hunting and decide to move out here. But @Huntkook it’s the increase in residents that are actually increasing pressure since nr’s are usually limited
We are limited, so any license decrease in NR tags makes it even harder. Most western states are around 85% resident tags, which is only fair, but the 15% nr hunters bring about 40 some million dollars into game and fish.

Yea it really sucks some poor schmuck from back east finally goes on his dream hunt before he dies.
Yeah it does and that he pays $1200.00 and some change for just the tag to shoot a speed goat. Not this guy not an antelope big enough in WY. but there is always someone willing to take your place with anything in this life.

7 years for me and still crave one after every meal
My cope addiction was fairly short lived considering my dad chewed for 50 plus years. I took a big dip while chit face drunk in college and than decided to go drive around with friends in the mountains after the bars closed in a winter storm warning. I puked until 8 am and somehow lived through the stupidest night of my life. Haven’t ever tried it since. Prolly Can’t blame that on the cope but guilty by association I guess.

They want welfare? We can give em welfare, BUT they gotta stay poor if they're on welfare like everyone else on welfare! Just push legislation capping the amount outfitters can charge for their services and make it well below market for their services.

They wanna play socialism? We can play socialism too. Not sure why people play nice with these clowns.

A big part of the problem in Montana at least was the push for public land DIY. This congregated hunters to accessible land and lead to overcrowding, this lead to leasing up land to hunt, which in turn lead to more overcrowding. Growing up lots of nonresidents were bringing a box of apples and hunting private. Now, that private is not accessible and more hunters are pushed to public. Outfitters do and have served a purpose in distributing hunting pressure and helping nonresidents that have no clue. With all the info available more nonresidents now have a clue. The people that have watched this are saying wtf has happened, the new recruits are saying this is the best thing I’ve seen. Outfitters are looking for ways to keep their clients when we had less demand. I’m not sure this is going to do it.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think draw odds will actually increase much at all putting in for special the first few years of this as long as the economy stays strong, even at $2,000. If we go into a recession at some point in the next few years, I could see a pretty noticeable change. We’ll see.

They are not the people to talk about it or look like it. Probably have all the new stuff, newer cars, and Cc debt through the roof. Probably have obscene payments on their house, cars, rzr, trailer etc.

Highlands ranch in Denver looks like a high end neighborhood. I don’t know the stats but believe a couple years ago the percentage of people living in debt and above their means was one of the highest percentages in the country.
Not quite all of us. Zero debt and paid the house off 7 yrs early on a 20-yr mortgage. Graduated from the school of Dave Ramsey. It can be done if you want to make it happen.

Exactly why the price increase will have little if no effect on demand.

I’ll gladly pay $1,200 for an antelope tag if it means my Dad and I can hunt pronghorn one more time. Unfortunately I don’t think that will happen. Not much health or time left for him, but enough cash that an extra $600 wouldn’t matter.
My dad passed away this May. Wish I could hunt with him one more time.

Absolutely agree and wasn’t saying I was in that boat or agree with it. I’ve just seen it a lot over the years and was trying to paint a better picture of multiple scenarios. The conversation was all about rich people but I think it is much more nuanced and diverse than that when it comes to the people that will just pay the increased price.
