Shelter-in-place cooking

Smoked half a breast from a home-grown turkey. The breast half weighed about 8lbs. Brined overnight and smoked at 225° for about 5 hours to an internal temp of 156° It is delicious and moist.
Makes the best turkey sandwiches you ever tasted!

Little bit of salmon on the grill tonight. Asparagus has been on sale lately so we've been eating a lot of it!

I made a couple of nice greasy and juicy bacon deer burgers with an egg on top.

BLT with lettuce from the garden and bacon I cured and smoked from pigs I raised.

Braised short ribs with fingerling potatoes, carrots, shallot, garlic in a Polygamy Porter reduction (it’s a UT thing ).

We woke up to 4-5 inches of snow this morning. I left in the dark to go listen for turkeys. Listening to turkeys gobble in the snow at daylight and hiking for the rest of the day makes a fella work up an appetite. After being gone all day, a shelter in place date night was in order. I took the long way home to swing by the store and grab some steaks and pasta salad.

My son made a venison shepherd’s pie for us tonight. He’s been staying with me while his company is on WFH. For those watching the gun break-in / cleaning post, we also went shooting today and he cleaned all 6 guns afterwards. It’s good to be the king!
