Planning for an Eastern Montana mule deer hunt

I still genuinely feel if I had the means to go 30 days, unbothered, with plenty of the necessities, in the backcountry of Montana, i can find some like that. Truly..

The 3 absolute best LE units in Montana have not produced a buck even close to this. Good luck with your search should you get those 30 days.

I shoot one like some of the bucks posted I would post it up. Until then I’m just looking for a buck over 3.5 and I still wouldn’t shoot it.

Good point, valid argument! I just feel like there is too much untouched wilderness man. Every year they come out and hunt 10 days with the same buddy and one of them breaks equipment or needs moleskin or it rains or it’s too hot or too cold or wtf ever. Like I said in earlier post, it’s as much a battle with man as it is with beast

I know I could find and kill not just a ram, but a mature ram, faster than I could a large mule deer.
I’ve seen like 4 180 bucks in Montana and believe me, it ain’t from lack of looking.

A real big (190+) mule deer is probably the rarest animal in the state

Having untouched wilderness in not the issue. It is keeping a buck in the wilderness for five weeks the end of October through November that is the hard part. When you are busting your ass in the high mountains looking for the big one some one else is shooting him in the foothills the end of November at the age of three.
