And you LOVE IT.
Even 15-20 years ago I remember what driving the cap rock road was like. Reminded me of an eastmans magazine. Not the case anymore.
15 or so years ago I remember checking cows in the summers on the old settern place and seeing at least a couple awesome bucks every year. Not like that there anymore. Looks like a small village in the fall now

I wish I could even remember where I took the photo… I’m sure somebody on here has seen it also, it was in a restaurant or a casino bathroom I think, here in MT.. maybe Columbus?

I still genuinely feel if I had the means to go 30 days, unbothered, with plenty of the necessities, in the backcountry of Montana, i can find some like that. Truly..
On a side note, That dude guided TR… presumably in moccasins… how far you think they went? 8 miles? 12 miles? 1/4 mile due south from the country club’s back par 3?

I have invested over 1000 days and have never seen one like it, but I am not very good at it.
I spend a ton of time ever year after season on what use to be phenomenal mule deer country. I can tell you the last time I’ve even seen a buck that made me take a second look is coming up on 11 years ago. Archery season had him at 40 yards bedded behind a cedar tree. I was sitting waiting him out had him dead to rights. He had no idea I was there. Cow comes over the hill behind me and starts bellering. He hits 5th gear and never seen him again until two weeks after thanksgiving. Called some does in while coyote calling and he came in with them.
