Moving to the South?

Ive spent a weekn in Oklahoma, and some more tine driving through it too.... and a year in west texas. Trying to be courteous to folks from there - so ill just say this... you wont like it.
Why stop at Oklahoma? Buy a boat and live in the Caribbean!

Contrary to one of Dan Jenkins’s humorous works, Texas does not identify as Baja Oklahoma.

I don’t envy your predicament @Flatbrimmer, gentrification of paradise is a fact

You are marching into the face of climate change. It will only get worse. I would try to find a way to make it somewhere in MT or I would emigrate laterally, not longitudinally. As as soon to be climate refugee, emigrating north as far as practical is our goal. We are almost there. Another 4-6 months, and we are gone.

I would personally look into Lauel, Lewistown, Miles City, Spearfish/Belle Fourche, Butte, Townsend, Great Falls before moving to a entirely different area without really visiting first. Great Falls has a huge missel upgrade going on over the next few years and should have more people moving in. Same with Rapid City.. I mostly work on the east side of Montana and most of the people remind me of good individuals like what I grew up around in Oklahoma. Again Oklahoma like everywhere has changed. Something with the weather is way different over the last 20-30 years, its getting hotter for longer periods of the tear. But I don't blame you for wanting to move away from Bozeman.

My cousin does similar work and makes quite a good living building cabins for rich Texans in the Hochatown area. Plenty of work, affordable housing, good cost of living, a damn fine place to raise a family in my very bias opinion.

Now let's get to the hunting. There's some ok public but nothing like you're use too. Good hunting will probably require some access to private. And the red deer get huge 🤣.

Any questions fire away.
Is there any that aren’t behind that big fence I see in the picture? Or is it all pay to play hunt with those? That things so gorgeous 😍😍😍

Yeah it would be within an hour or so outside OK city. I’ve lived in Texas. I loved it there but i also didn’t hunt then. The having to find private to hunt anything sucks bad.. I have 99.5% failure rate at the door knocking lol

But hogs, deer, turkeys gators….. I mean I think I’ll trade hogs and gators for elk if I can do it every year… 😅

My wife’s family owns the Meigs Ranch on Meigs road in Livingston. It’s the shell of the ranch it used to be and the ranch got taken in some inheritance scandal. Need good lawyer for that one but until then, she was born and raised in this area so great falls sounds like the slums and OK sounds like cool change of pace… I do understand but DAMMIT… like muley said, I think id rather live in fuggin Shelby 😅😅

Good grief. You are tossing out a lot more than elk from your quality of life in that statement. Mountain living, having an actual Spring, summer, fall and winter annually.

Sounds like you do not value what living in the west in a public land state provides for the soul as compared to private land OK and any other state down that way lacking vast public lands and the decision is pretty much made to bail out?

You might find the people are a lot better in GF or shelby than where you are. A vast majority of people in bozeman about y(our) age didnt make their way in home ownership without money they didnt earn.
