Moving to the South?

Moved from that Southern heat 36 years ago and no regrets.
Hail and tornadoes are another reason to not live own South.

Hogs are a blast to hunt though !!!!

I grew up and spent my first 50 years in Northern Colorado. Moved to Kentucky in 2021. I miss Colorado but my gosh my eyes got open. There is so much great things to discover in other parts of the country. You get so pigeon holed about going to the same rivers same mountains. Kentucky has waterfalls, lakes, trails, atv trails, incredible hunting and fishing. The standard of living here is more than 25% less then Colorado. As my buddy said, "you can always visit Colorado" and I can. With all the money I save I can hunt any western state I want and still save money on living there. I say do it. You wont regret it and your always go back and visit. The finanical stress relief on you and your family will be more than worth it.

My wife’s family owns the Meigs Ranch on Meigs road in Livingston. It’s the shell of the ranch it used to be and the ranch got taken in some inheritance scandal. Need good lawyer for that one but until then, she was born and raised in this area so great falls sounds like the slums and OK sounds like cool change of pace… I do understand but DAMMIT… like muley said, I think id rather live in fuggin Shelby 😅😅
Yep it's all subdived now. Wind and rattle snakes to enjoy on the ranchett.

You are marching into the face of climate change. It will only get worse. I would try to find a way to make it somewhere in MT or I would emigrate laterally, not longitudinally. As as soon to be climate refugee, emigrating north as far as practical is our goal. We are almost there. Another 4-6 months, and we are gone.
MN's North Shore and Duluth is about to get absolutely crushed by Californians in the next 5-10 years.

I strongly encourage all to share far and wide -- MN North Shore is a horrible horrible place and no one should go there. Stay away! It is too cold, too remote, too buggy, too MAGA and there really isn't much water to be found in any direction.

(on the bright side, the immigrants will unlikely result in a raise of our taxes or woke quota, as we already match theirs)

Just my .02 and worth what you paid for it... If you go, you will likely never be able to come back. I'd see if you cant leverage your contacts in Montana to find a more affordable area to live in state and keep good work. I have had a brother and a good friend move away and I really don't see any way for them to come back without a major financial hit. If you are set on going we will all wish you the best, but I would explore options for staying first.
