The Securities and Exchange Commission opened an investigation into the accounting gimmick, which allowed Lehman to sell securities at quarter end so as to exclude them from its balance sheet and then repurchase the same securities days later. However, in 2012 the SEC closed its investigation without bringing suit.

They had a different opinion than the state.
Sure. E&Y was innocent but paid $10m to NY and $99m to LB investors out of kindness.

My agency has decreased staffing 40% since 2010. We are now at the point where we may as well shutter the place. We have three people (and shortly, probably less) to manage 200,000+ acres across three counties. Most of that was acquired directly with sportsmen’s dollars. It is not possible at this point to do everything that needs to be done.

Based on a lot of the comments posted here, on a diy public lands hunting forum of all places, I really can’t wrap my head around the hate. All it’s really done is convince me that the public doesn’t care about, want, nor really deserve public lands and wildlife. Let’s just cut to the chase…privatize it all and let’s be done. I give up.

Meanwhile some of my coworkers went home today after work to tell their kids and spouse they lost their job, and oh yeah, we have seven days to find a new place to live. Happy Valentines Day.

When did Americans turn into such assholes? I don’t recognize what we’ve become anymore.

Unfortunate how quickly this turned into a dick measuring contest. I know someone with young kids who lost their job today.

I'm all for responsible spending and getting rid of lazy people anywhere that are just collecting a paycheck. This was not either of those things.
Hopefully he bought some tesla shares as a hedge!

@FREAK is laughing with joy I am sure …

It's always been there, just under the surface. All it takes is the nod of approval from the top for it to rear it's ugly head.

Its pathetic and sad, but predictable...its how the groupies roll.

I feel you @Hunting Wife. My agency received an email today saying to expect some folks to receive termination notices. I was 50/50 but ended up not being one. Probationary does not mean disposable.

I’ve worked seasonally there for 15 years just recently getting a perm position, with time elsewhere in the private sector. Last thing I’m looking for is sympathy on here. I along with my crew work our assess off. But yet we’re “lazy corrupt gov’t workers.”

I too know people that had positions revoked or were let go. No rhyme or reason to any of the public land agency firings.

In the 1990s our USFS lands received about 120 million annual visits. Today we are approaching 170 million.

There are now less than half as many trail and forestry technicians as there were in 1992 in the USFS.

If the quality of your public lands experience is not what it once was, there may be many reasons behind it, but one is not in doubt.

We've been doing more with less at least that long.

But even that wasn't good enough.

Should have started doing less with less a longggg time ago.

I bet a couple of you will have some ticked of girls on Valentine's night if you don't stop fighting on the internet.
