Influencers Ruining Stuff

Hunting/fishing spots always get blown up it’s just part of the process. But eventually it won’t be as good and less and less people will go there which eventually brings back the nature. And then bam all of a sudden it’s a great spot again.

I’ve never in my life seen an outdoors experience like hunting or fishing get better with time. Theres no place I can think of that sees less people than the past. Have you experienced the opposite?

This dude playing chess while we are all playing checkers. If Randy won't put this content behind a required login to keep bots from indexing then the next best thing is to just start posting random unit numbers with bad information to dilute the real stuff 🙃

It’s great that influencer/spotburner Janis Putelis is such a poor hunter. He had a coveted MT rifle tag a few years ago and I was happy he was unable to find something to kill for his Instagram/Youtube. Maybe his lack of success is good for the places he spot burns for money

I think your point is valid, but it's influenced by your location. There are all sorts of examples of hunting woods that are less crowded, fisheries getting better, etc. in the east. We have the opposite story as well, in some cases, but it doesn't all feel like doom and gloom around here. The west is just in the middle of some sort of manifest destiny part II.

Here is what spot burning and selling out your hobby/past time/life style/culture/traditions can buy you in Bozeman, MT. I can see why so many people want to film and photograph and put it on the internet, to be like Steve

It's ok to be jealous, that's a nice house-not too big or too small, nice kitchen, good garage, nice location, tastefully decorated, I approve (y)

I mean - i cant imagine caring much either way.
Your draw odds keep getting worse, there’s more hunters in your favorite spots and on the landscape than ever before, the forkys can’t make it to 3, most of these hunters wouldn’t hunt if they couldn’t make videos or post to social media, but @Forkyfinder doesn't care, doesn’t affect him

you think most people hunt now film it?

If draw odds are your concern - blame it being online.

I do, yes. Some kind of “film” (photos included) is involved in every hunt today, usually for the dopamine high of posting them to social media. From photos to short videos for Snapchat stories, Instagram reels and posts, Facebook reels and posts, YouTube shorts, to full on film crews.

Your second point, do you make your own points/develop your own opinions, or just reiterate things Buzz says to you?

Lmfao @BuzzH and i being pals is a joke i hadnt heard yet. Ironic but the longer im around the more i see he certainly has his points of validity.

Frankly, I had no idea buzz said that. But i can tell you the family i came from in WY was pretty non-serious about applications in the paper days. Which is mind-numbing when i think about it now. In any event - now they go sign up online and do a few clicks at the eleventh hour rather than make sure it got out in the mail via postmark on the correct date.

As to this point - i think thats generational.

Would you have said the same thing about kodak pictures in the 80s? Or whenever they came out?
