HO-lee-Crapola, (Pretend it's May 1st tomorrow). Uhhh I leave in June.... NExt month I leave. WOW. I didn't realize it was so dang close !

Now time will go by like waiting for your 16th Birthday and getting drivers license!.....unless you have forgotten something, then time will fly by while you try to handle!!
I leave the States on 28June.

Be sure to stock up on your match bullets! ;)

Have you been practicing shooting offhand, off shooting sticks?

Good point.

Moosie, please, please, please tell me you're not going to make another point with us by using match bullets for this trip....

dude.. I can't change jobs untill I get my first paycheck.. it will be longer then that ;)

Just kidding boss...looking fwd. to the Afreeka pics & story from you and BStew..am sure they'll be doozies.

Moosie, please, please, please tell me you're not going to make another point with us by using match bullets for this trip....

I kill Utah Elk, Wyoming Elk, Idaho Sheep..... and Now i'm gunna Kill some Afreakin animals :)

o, I haven't procticed offhand, I suck at that actually :(

Please practice off shooting sticks! Lay forearm on sticks, grasp tripod sticks make AND your forearm, shoot! Sticks should be an extension of your "off' arm! If not, and I have seen this on TV, they become a shaky pivot point! I have seen TV programs showing hunter holding forearm behind sticks, firearm in front of sticks, barell on sticks.NO!!
I have used a leg of spread stable sticks while in siting position with elbows on knees to kill at well over 300m. Sticks are your friend! Use them right! But dont get dependent on them and not take a quick off hand shot you know you can make!

Alright, My list has changed as it gets closer and I'm more Broker :D I still don't know what I'm going to get or hunt exactly. I have a couple on the wish list but alot depends on work between now and then. This isn't my first and last trip.

I'l lprobably end up with about 4 critters. Probably a Impala, Blesbok, Orxy and Gemsbok. MAAAyyybe a Zebra ?!?! WE'll see.

...........So people "DO" read my posts ;)

8 days and counting here.

What about Kudu or Bushbuck? The wife told me the other day that she was going zebra rug shopping while we were there. ;)

BAmbi, that means I get to see your pictures before I leave... YIPPIE !!!

I meant Kudo when I put in Gemsbok. Other then that, I'm not sure what to Lay down. I think I'll have jsut as much fun watching the other guys laying the hammer on some animals. I'm just happy to be going. Lifes good !!!

Moosie, one thing to keep in mind is that it is cheaper to shoot the critters while you are there than to go back. I have 2 regrets about my safari, the first one is that I passed on a couple critters due to the $$$$. But now that I am back in the states and know that it will be a really long time before I go back I wish I would have laid the hammer down on a couple more.

You can also negotiate the price. My second impala was about 1/2 of the first.

My other regret is not spending some time going to museums or other historical sites in country. RSA has an "interesting" history.

Be sure to get the back skins tanned. And I got one of the impalas tanned as a flat skin rather than caping it and the hide is awesome.

Have fun!!

If you're worried about sucking offhand, aren't you supposed to use those tall shooting sticks? You don't want to be wasting your time on blood trails. You have some of those tall sticks, right? You're joking there, right?

Do you have a really big gun too?
