My daughters boyfriend wanted me to go to a gun auction with him today.
I took $100 of JIC money. Not planning on purchasing a firearm, but there are usually scopes, gun cases, and reloading items for auction also.

How did i do, you ask?

$13 got a nice hard, lockable rifle case with 2 keys.
Got a box of misc items for $5. I saw 2 soft long gun cases in the box when bidding.

And....

A "German" Mauser that has been "sporterized" in 8X57 for $65. I was the only bid.

I guess i'm a glutten for punishment at the hands of my wife. Lol

I'll update when i get a good look at the Mauser and find out exactly what i got... Lol

You won’t be disappointed with that 8x57. That was my first hunting rifle as a kid and I shot many deer and bear with that round

While i know the 8X57 is an excellent cartridge, i'm not sure it's for me.
As the name implies, i really like the 7mm cartridges.
So i may end up doing a barrel swap. Perhaps to 7X57, as i don't have one of those yet.
There is always 284 Win.
Maybe the 25-284...
35X57...
So many choices....

He didn't bid on a single thing...
Was more a scouting trip for him, for when he has the money to spend.

I love an auction too, i have a pile of "one day" builds for myself that have come from auctions. My first build was from a German k98 I bought at an auction for $45 that had already been "chopped up" and sporterized, its in my safe now as a varmint 25-06
