What lake are you on? That bar looks like one from a vacation a couple summers ago. Of course if it’s Wisconsin you can’t throw a rock without hitting a tavern!

I’m surprised by your walleye-to-perch ratio.
Has the population shifted like that throughout the whole lake or is it more of a function of where/when you’re fishing?

We come for the perch and the "three spots" where we usually find them are all perch spots. Spot two we caught 3 eyes and a perch when we checked it so decided to setup shop here.
No complaints!
It has become harder to find the big perch. We have caught a decent amount of perch here in this spot but a lot under 10". We have a hard self imposed limit of 10" minimum. The small perch in that photo is 9.25 but was badly hooked. That should give a good comparison for just how big the jumbo are that we come to this lake for.
The walleye class is just amazing right now. 3 years ago, all we could catch were 9 to 11 inch walleyes. Hundreds of them a day. I think all of those fish are now these 16 to 20s we are catching right now. They changed the slot last year and I'm guessing it's to help protect this year class.
Good move. Seems that slots help wherever they are placed, glad to hear they did with Winne.
I suspected something must have changed, sounds that walleye bite is really getting good up there.

Maybe. Everyone in the bar couldn't believe we had 10 walleyes and only needed 2 more and that we had tossed back probably another 8 more. Reports were just 1 or 2 per icehouse.
We are completely on our own. It's a massive lake and the closest person is maybe 1/2 mile away. You fish bago...its the same concept. Get on your own, find them and then stay put and keep your mouth shut.

The thing that drives me nuts about ice fishing is how everyone wants to be right on top of each other.

I wish everyone had this mindset/attitude, but nowadays seems like most people immediately want to tell the whole world and post on social media. Glad you guys have been getting into them!

We use the sxs to explore around and find where we want to setup for the weekend and mainly making sure it's hopefully on a spot for nighttime eyes while we sleep.
As you can see we are by ourselves when there is probably 1000 plus people out here
